I will be sharing videos of whatever I manage to get on video for informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. DIY videos, animal, metal detecting, just never know what I will get into next. My goal is to give back to the RUclips community, which has helped me greatly over the years, and hopefully help some folks with DIY projects, etc.

Dodge Dakota 2004 heater core replacement no AC lines disconnected
I am not an expert, the safest way to do this is probably to let a mechanic evacuate the AC system. But this is how I replace my heater core Without evacuating the AC system or disconnecting the AC lines, all that remained intact.

2004 Dodge Dakota dash removal to access HVAC box
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.4 месяца назад
Be sure to disconnect the Battery before attempting this type of work!! In this video I show the steps I took to remove the dash from my 2004 Dodge Dakota to replace my heater core, but this process will also gain access to the AC evaporator coil. It is a 5 speed but, the process should be similar for automatics. Please leave a comment if you have any questions. I hope you liked this video. Sub...

TO ALL V8 GUYS WATCHING!!!! that 4th one he says is behind our dip stick, the stud is much shorter and will hide behind the foil heat shielding. 1/4in short 11mm with a slim 1/4in ratchet came off with ease. DONT DROP IT ONTOP OF THE TRANS LIKE ME
I’ve changes mine i think 3 times. I hate it so much. Thanks for the video.
Your welcome. I hope you have had the truck a long time with 3 heater cores....
@ yes sir I have it’s got 416,778 miles on it. I probably had it for 15 years. It’s an 2004 4.7 L. I ordered a Mopar heater core I am putting it in this weekend.
Wow! That's a Lot of miles!
that was amazing that will help me a lot when i do this in 3 months. I just started smelling the antifreeze in my car there is just a small amount of mist on my front windshield i hope it can last this winter i do not have a garage and there will be very cold weather for the next 3 or more months.
Glad it helped
@marksadventuresdiy going to test coolant to see if exhaust is going in it hope not a blown head gasket putting pressure in the system I have not overheated
It sounds like just a bad heater core, if it was a head gasket you would probably be blowing coolant out of the reservoir, or have milky oil and or coolant.
@marksadventuresdiy thank you will let you know how it goes
Hello sir, I have a problem, I hope you can help me please. When I turn on my 2004 Dodge Dakota, steam comes out of the windshield on the inside. I turn on the hot air and also the cold air and it doesn't go away, the steam continues and it doesn't let me see my way, please help.
It sounds like the classic symptom of a bad heater core, unfortunately. Mine did not get to that point before I changed it.
Thank you sir
Thank you, good video
Your welcome, Thank you
Thank you so much for the video mine just puked on the driver side with a lot of smoke coming from vents gonna be changing it out tomorrow
Glad it helped!
@@marksadventuresdiy thank you again 14hrs latter all done and went as smooth as possible for the most part
@@Bats82 Your welcome! It's not an easy job for sure. Glad you got it done, Thanks for the follow up!!!
Thanks for showing me it can be done. I was dreading the A/C evacuating part because I don't have a machine and didn't want to pay to have it done. I'm on it now.
Glad I could help!
I have a 2003 Dakota and I started smelling coolant inside a month or so ago. No wet spots but I'm definitely smelling it. Guess I need to prepare myself for this task.
You probably do, it's a pretty common problem for our trucks.
Who are you talking to 😂😂😂😂
I'm quickly realizing my Dakota is probably never going to have heat again..
Haha, me too.
Thanks for the video. My heater core just started leaking on my 04. This doesn't look fun to me. I think I'll buy a universal AC exaporator/heater from Amazon.
It's not fun, but it's doable.
Nice truck man. My '04 is a black quad cab. Same V6 same 5-speed
Thanks! I just recently got it from my neighbor who moved, he was the original owner and took good care of it. I was really surprised by the gas mileage, I've gotten 21 to 22 for the past couple tanks, a buddy had one with the V8 and said he got 14! Thanks for subscribing!
@@marksadventuresdiy thanks for the videos I blew a hole in my radiator, that took all of about 40 mins to pull it out and put a new one in. Apparently that wasn't the only issue because now my floorboard is saturated with coolant
Oh wow! that's not good.
@@marksadventuresdiy oh that's just par. At least I've got a parking garage to work in now. I changed my radiator in Walmart parking lot
Any tips for the damn box being stuck after getting all the bolts and nuts loose
Once I took the 4 nuts off under the hood and the 2 bolts out inside, mine pulled away from the firewall pretty easy. I did have to carefully wiggle it around to get the ac lone clamps through the small opening. But other than that the 2 heater hoses were the only other thing to disconnect. Not sure how many year models are like the 2004.
Double check to be sure you didn't miss one. Should not be anything preventing it from pulling back from the firewall except the small fasteners, and you shouldn't have to force it.
I'M about to remove the 4 wheel drive switch and replace it with a new one. Any tips getting do this ? any easier way?? The new switch has just 3 screws into the back of it,,,If i can get to it without taking ALL the dash out,,,i would like that> thanks
Hi, If yours is similar to mine, 2004 ish, it doesn't require pulling the whole dash. You can drop the cover under the steering column, then remove the 2 phillips head screws above the instrument cluster, and pull out the dash bezel area from the right of the radio, beside glove box, all the way to the left side of the instrument cluster. The 4wd switch is in that assembly, on mine. Let me know if that works out for you, good luck!

I saw your comment on "everything you need to know to start a youtube channel today" and thought to support you and subscribe. Keep moving comrade. My suggestion for is that you avoid making your videos too long for retention purposes. For example you can divide your video into part 1 & part 2. Part 1 will be about preparation, materials need, etc part 2 u demonstrate how to apply those materials and final finish.
Thank You for the support and advice! I was wondering about that, I had seen some others done that way, 2 or more parts. I'm getting ready to upload another video and will be sure to do 2 parts to reduce the length, it's currently at 35 minutes. Thanks again!
