Sit & Fly seat cover for the V Strom 800DE. Does it work?
I replaced my sheep skin seat cover with this “As Seen On TV” Sit&Fly mesh seat cover. Does it do what it claims (provide cool air flow between the seat and your butt)? I went 100 miles today, and I came away surprised.

Suzuki V Strom 800DE Spark Plug Replacement
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Месяц назад
At 7500 miles (12,000KM), you’re supposed to replace your spark plugs. In this video I show you how I did it. I am not a mechanic or trained technician. Don’t do what I do if you’re not willing to risk damaging your own bike. Take your bike to a certified shop. You’ll need to take off the plastics and tank. You can read my post on the V Strom forum about how to do that here: www.stromtrooper.co...

I take the 800 off-road and make a mistake in a mud puddle. No harm (other than a scuff on the clutch cover). Here's some brief notes on what I think is a fantastic bike, both on-road and my novice attempt at off-road. I ride the waterfront along the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair on a perfect Sunday afternoon in Michigan.

    Crazy amount of work to change a set of plugs. How these are classed as adventure bikes is beyond me. These types of bikes should be easy to work on as they are designed to go to remote areas. Iridium plugs are crazy dear too, a change at 10K kms is ludicrous. I drive a VFR 800 and the plugs are good for 21/2 times that.

  • @Chris-ue9tx

    What kind of wire are you using to get into dealer mode? Also, did you have to disconnect the battery before attaching the jumper?

    • @due51outdoors
      @due51outdoors 5 дней назад

      Don't disconnect the battery. You need power to do this task. I used a strand of 20ga Cat-5 solid core wire. Doesn't have to be 20ga but it has to be be small enough to fit into the slot on the plug. Those connectors are delicate.

    I change spark plugs in my car around 80K miles. Why so frequently on a bike?

    • @due51outdoors
      @due51outdoors 5 дней назад

      I really don't know why they say the plugs need to be changed so early. They're iridium plugs that should last 10s of thousands of miles. But, I did it because the maintenance schedule called for it. And apparently I hate money lol

    Great Content you have! I am debating between that Suzuki Tall and T Rex or others. Are you still using the Suzuki or can you report on others you tried...Any advice I am only 5"9" and want the wind to go just over my helmet..Subscribed!

      @@iamtubuler9266 thank you for the kind words. I have tried 4 windshields in the two seasons I’ve had the 800. The stock screen was completely ineffective. Then I bought the OEM tall screen which turned to be only slightly better, but still didn’t divert air overhead. Givi came out with their AirFlow for the 800, and I got it as soon as I could. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the answer either. Ultimately I ended up with a CalSci large screen. It’s ridiculously big, but for me (6’3”) it was the only screen that eliminated the wind noise and buffeting. Everybody is different though. What works (or didn’t work) for me isn’t necessarily the same results someone else will experience.

    I appreciate your video, but there is no way I would be checking or replacing these spark plugs before the first valves clearance check and probably even later. These are iridium plugs that last in automobiles for life or at least 160000 kms. If there was really a need to replace them every 12000 kms, then Suzuki has a serious design flaw.

  • @samporter4818
    @samporter4818 Месяц назад

    Suzuki and their Dealer's, just want your money and lots of it. Please quote what having the plugs replaced at a Dealer would cost! That and a Valve adjustment would be so cost prohibitive that 99% of owners will never do it: My recently purchased 800DE is my 91st New Motorcycle in 62 years of riding, touring, semi-pro racing, 1/4 mile races, Baja events, ISDT Rally's and I built Dyno winning HD Big Twin engines and raced 2 stroke Desert and Motocross and even Trials and I have always done my own maintenance; Stay away from DEALERS. I was recently quoted $180 for just an Oil and Filter change for my first service @ 553 miles and If I wanted THEIR recommended, CHECK all the boxes service, it was $280. By the way, Sparkplugs in MODERN engines, running NO LEAD gasoline and looking as great as yours, probably won't need changing for 70-80 thousand miles! I'm a Subscriber and I compliment your Video's!

      Good morning. I have Nelson Rigg rackless Hurricane soft panniers, and a Givi Trekker Outback 58L top case. I loved the Givi AirFlow on my 650XT but not so much on the 800. I swapped out the AF3125 on my 800 for a CalSci large screen. It’s massive but it’s the only screen out if the 4 I’ve mounted that’s provided good wind protection without buffeting or excessive noise.

Have a deposit on a 2024 800de... but i dont know when it will arrive here in sask, canada. But i see suzuki canada has already lowered the msrp by like 600??? Haha maybe ill splurge on the skid plate! The tc on the 650 can be turned off(and stays off), level 1 is unusable on gravel, level 2 is also pointless.
