Mcgradys Gulch no LOCKERS vs LOCKERS!
Me and my buddy head out for a quick crawling sesh. Come to find out pack rats chewed my airlines to my lockers (jeep TJ). YJ is locked with only 33s and TJ is on 35s amazing what lockers can do.

1978 F150 429 swapped “cold start”

1978 F150 429 swapped handling a cold start in the freezing southern az temps of 43*F. I understand this isn’t cold compared to other parts of the world but it’s all I got to work with.

Wow it’s cold at 43 degrees! Only if it’s summer.
That’s cold where I come from in south MS
Very powerful four-wheel drive
People give the quadra drive system a tough time because the diffs don't like big tires but when it works as intended it is brilliant at sending power to the wheels with traction. The ford may need a diff at the back or at least some weight on the bed to aid traction, still for an old girl she did really well especially when the standard operating procedure back then was going 20 to have all the momentum your spine could withstand 😛
Yeah the jeep and truck did two separate hills the jeep attempted the one the truck did towards the end of the video but we had a linkage issue and wouldn’t go into 4 low once we got it locked it jeep did good going up unfortunately was dark at that time. The truck will eventually be getting a locker in the rear but I’m in no hurry.
Video also doesn’t show that it was raining and ground and rocks were pretty wet match that with a fairly steep hill (video also doesn’t do justice) makes the lack of traction understandable. Truck was running 10 psi.
@@toetagracing2982 the wjs tend to have problems with the transfer lever if it isn't exercised often I guess it's because of the extra linkages to try and make the tcase lever look like a mini me gearlever compared to the more traditional lever on other jeeps. On the second climb the engine revved high but the wheels didn't match the noise, i guess because you where in high range the torque converter refused to lock up because of the high load and it spun faster than the wheels, if you didn't get a transmission temperature warning you were lucky. It happened to me on a similar situation, a long gravely/rocky incline in 4 high with a liberty.
@@toetagracing2982 video never does inclines justice what's why every off road video has a "my civic could do that" type of comment... You are a brave man to run 10 psi without bead locks on rocks.
Hahaha yeah that trans hasn’t been happy for atleast 3 years now actually to the point it has to be manually shifted but it won’t get fixed until it actually gives up. Shoot I’ve done down to 8 front and 5 rear in this old truck and they haven’t never spit a bead!
Clean Cherokee.
Sounds good, how big is the cam ?
It’s just an RV cam nothing big
Brisk? 43° in Nebraska is warm when it gets to -48 with wind chill. Lol.
@@HuskerRed11yup pretty cold for us desert rats 😂
Nice! I miss the comfort of the WJ in the XJ. I had a turbo diesel WJ, great ride. Greetings from Croatia!
Lovely scenery, very scenic, where is it? Also lovely wj, these things never look out of place, is yours stock, it seams slightly lifted or is it just the tires, maybe up country suspension?
Hey thanks for watching the jeep has a 2” rough country lift and 33” inch tires. Location is southern az.
@@toetagracing2982 i should have guessed it is slightly lifted, after all those years of spring sag regular wj's look like lowriders and upcountry ones like regular wj's when they were new....
The bronco was a bit too large for that trail but at least no-one minds a few more scratches on a 50 year old truck, on an even larger and much more precious new f-150 that trail would be impassable no matter the number of diff locks and 37s Nice wj, looks clean and factory fresh, is it a quadra drive with just bigger tires(31s?) or is there more than meets the eye? Nice video, liked and subbed
The ford is actually a f150 definitely wouldn’t take a newer vehicle down this trail. WJ is Quadra drive on 33s. Thanks for watching 👍
@@toetagracing2982 Sorry I had a brain fart and when I saw the grill i thought 2nd gen bronco despite that being very obviously a pick up. Anyway nice trail and video, hope you make more!
Love the no motion shot! And the reflection, perfect!
