No more Soil! Growing Plants in Water: The Kratky Method
You dont need soil to grow plants! In this video I'm exploring how you can take cuttings from regular live herbs and plants and grow them in bottles.
This is a great way of getting more plants on the go without having to wait for seedlings or buying more droopy herbs from the supermarket!

Seed to Salad - Growing Seedlings for Hydroponic Systems
Просмотров 2574 года назад
We eat a good amount of salad and it's a great crop to grow hydroponically. Unfotunately we don't always get around to eating everything we grow! But it's always nice to ahve a good rotation of different veggies and leaves to keep us growing. In this short video We'll show you how we go from seed to salad using rockwool that will eventually be put in the NFT and Aeroponic systems to give us som...

Growing Plants from Cuttings
Просмотров 1334 года назад
A quick way to multiply your plants without waiting for seeds to germinate! In this video I'm experimenting with taking cuttings from some herbs that we already have growing to try and get some plants up and running in the NFT system. Will they turn into proper plants or will they give up entirely?

There wer e few hurdles along the way and it still needs some tweaking, but this is a great way of growing plants and herbs with limited growing space.
Hardening Off Seedlings and Transplanting Chillis
Просмотров 2074 года назад
The seedlings are ready for the outside world, but it's a dangerous and scary place! In this video we go through the steps and techniques to make sure your little baby seedlings can survive the harsh elements, before you eat them obviously. Also we have a quick look at how the chillis are getting on in the grow tent and give them a bit of TLC.

Upgrading the Grow Tent and Installing a DWC System
Просмотров 2004 года назад
Time to make a bit more space in the grow tent! What started out as a place to germinate seedlings for the garden has gotten a bit out of hand. The solution? Even more features!
Hey, great job! Do you have a video how the plants grow in it, so far?
which pump did you end up using?
Good stuff - one note is that 'As far as I know' - the grey pipes are UV resistant whereas those ones are not - so if you intend to use the pipe outside you need to check that.
Why did you put the tank in the ground?
Game changer ❤
I’m really enjoying your content. Thanks for uploading! I’ll be following closely. 😊
What size pvc are you using? 6 or 8 inch?
Wonderful. Thank you!
Typical PVC plastic pipe, if not UV stabilized grade plastic, will begin to breakdown under extended UV (ultraviolet) light from the Sun. The harmful result is toxic chemicals from the pipe will leaching into the water and then the plants. Also, typical plastics have BPA which has been linked to health problems and over time this can leech into the water and then the plants.
Janky!! Love that word 😂
Just a note, plants don't need oxygen. They use carbon dioxide.
I wish you were here in Ghana. I need a practical experience. Excellent work.
Good job soaz
Great video... Do you have instructions regardings the nutrient formula and concentration? How about the vases? What should I use?
I've never seen a tower. How fun
Is there a problem with the plants in the tower that dont face the sun? In my head there would have to be electronics that spin the pillar very slowley so that every plants gets sun
Pipe is great, container for water source is great. The spray bits in the tubing is a bit over done. Just have it drip from the top. Less work in the end.
nice video, I have a quesiton: How does the sprayer tube inside the the towertube enhance vrs just letting the water drip down from the top?
Roots soaked by a sprayer or by water running down the tower will produce the same result.
The sprayer is just more efficient, as it doesn't require the water to constantly be dripped down from the top, but can be let out in small, timed bursts. Plants don't need nutrients and water 24/7, so timing it is more cost effective as you save on both electricity and water.
Cut up pieces of foam pool noodle, trim to fit, and put them in the cup holes whenever you are not having plants in them. It will stop the water from spraying out of the tower.
I love all these tower gardening videos. I'm a complete newbie. My one question is why all of them seem to need to use a pump to spray the nutrients. With any electronics, the chances of a part going will make it more problematic. Wouldn't it be better to have a way to pop some water at the top and let it spiral all the way down spraying the plants, or some other way to pump it to the top. The water at the bottom could be collected in a glass container. Just speculating.
Awesome totally awesome 😎
Good
Hi can you please send me the materials I would be needing including the measurement so that I can build it myself. I am not an engineer or a carpenter to know the things you are showing & the measurement I would need buying. Please send it to my email priscila.esperancilla777@yahoo.com thank you so much.
I’m in the UK as well. Can you tell me where you got the pipe from? I’m branching into other forms of hydro and aeroponics❤️
Its just standard underground pipe, i`d suggest using 160mm for hydro or soil. ruclips.net/video/eSe0OU3yyYs/видео.html It doesnt have enough internal space for genuine aeroponics which uses mist, barrels are the best option.
Copy cat on original Tower Garden
I wish they sold terra cotta colored pvc here in the US.
Finally a UK video that uses pipes that's standard, as you used the ground pipe was it relatively simple to shape because I've tried various ideas using pipe and heating and reform to a different ish shape. 👍
put a plastic cup in the holes not being used might be easeir
How often do you have the pump running?
24/24
This is so underrated. This is the future!
Or I mean did the aeroponic work as expected?
Hey hey! Could you perhaps do a video showing the progress from the aeroponic tower you made and whether the results are worth it when compared to the different methods you use like the kratky or hydroponic?
This video is incredibly well made! I subscribed so quick. It shows that you took time and effort to produce something good. <3
id also like to know what pump you use
Thank you for this. I wanted to try growing aeroponically too and really appreciate your video. I live in a way smaller space and only have my room. I saw this method where one or two plants were grown but the branches were "encouraged" to grow through chicken wire so that the top surface area was expanded without having more plants (i think they did it for pot) I'd like to do it for herbs and tea tho
Cool tower bro.
Is the PVC food grade?
What type of pump do you use?
Brilliant how much you've managed to grow so much in a small space - an inspiration!
such a useful video for anyone starting out on hydraponics!
Brilliant video and loved seeing Ninja helping out with the veg growing too.
Beautiful sentiments. I found this very uplifting for the soul.
Quite astonishing how much you've managed to fit into your little thriving garden - completely blew me away !! Fantastic video - you're both naturals, and fascinating to hear about the hydroponic system you've created. Monty Don would be so proud of you both !! xx
Very interesting and I like seeing how the different methods compare.
Really fascinating and I learnt a lot from this. Very inventive and interested to see how the plants turn out.
Thanks for sharing.... But one question. Why not drip water from top instead of spraying???
Good question, it may work with a slightly different configuration but I was worried that some of the plants wouldn't get the nutrients they needed. By spraying them I can ensure that every plant is getting a nice dose of water and nutrients, plus they'll hopefully get a bit more oxygen this way. In a true aeroponics setup the water would be fed at high pressure through atomising spray heads, but that's a project for another time!
@@cluttercookseys2058 With drip you`ll find the plants grow unevenly. Those nearest the supply will grow roots much faster and reduce the amount of water reaching the ones further away. I`d recommend high pressure aero for vertical towers made from barrels etc but not pipes.
@@cluttercookseys2058 yes that is a valid point i guess you can also try to increase flow from nozzles so water don't splash out due to less pressure.. and also like what atomizer says.. i too have observed... My top plants were growing faster and bigger than those at bottom... But I think that it was due to more light they received... Bottoms ones used to get in shade early...
i would try that, it would also be aeroponics if you set it with a timer you avoid clogging of misters but plants would die too if power is lost
Great to see things progressing. Video was super well put together.
How to fit a farm into a tiny London terraced house garden! Amazing.
Wow, you've been busy. Super informative and well put together!
Absolutely brilliant - so informative. What a productive garden and with so much practical guidance - can’t wait to see more - and all the wonderful produce!
