As you have noticed, this anime knows you aren't stupid as it answers a lot of immediate questions about whatever is happening almost immediately. Great exposition by showing and only telling to either clarify what's happening or give you info when it's the right time. Let it cook and savor it when it's ready. That being said, the next two are some of the best in the series. Looking forward to more!

Speaking just for myself, the Fan Union defiantly singing as they died defending Anos' mother is one of the best part of the series. They never gave up. And Anos learning, etching each of their names in his heart is what a King should do. I still think the teacher got off easy. The ultimate punishment was fine enough. But I wish he'd burned her to death, once for each Fan Union member, and then once more to make her a hybrid.

So the “Batman guy” is Nightboy, he was the sidekick of Drakwing who Nolan killed in Ep1. Nightboy was murdering criminals in S2 and Mark fought him

I loved your reactions to Evangelion. Thanks for showing this. About the scene where Shinji chokes Asuka... this is a scene that director Anno heard about an episode of a couple's lover's quarrel and modelled it on it. There are a lot of different theories about this, and it's interesting to look for them. Shinji ‘became a god’ by obtaining the Fruit of Wisdom from Lilith and the Fruit of Life from Adam. Then, in accordance with his wishes, all the creatures of the earth melted together and returned once inside Lilith's body (the egg she has). So the seaside scene takes place after Shinji and Asuka have shared their hearts with each other. But because Shinji wanted to, she became an Other to him again. He became afraid that she would reject him again, so he strangled her. Asuka knew how he felt, so she found him endearing. So she stroked his cheek. When Shinji feels he has been accepted by her, he cries. But this is only a reaction to his own happiness at being accepted by others, and he consequently ignores Asuka. (He could have hugged her, you know.) Aska senses that he is crying for himself and is a little disappointed. So she insulted him at the end. Incidentally, the director famously gave strange instructions to the voice actors during this scene. He instructed Ogata (Shinji) thus. ‘Cry like you did when you were able to hug yourself for the first time.’ He then asked the actor Miyamura (Asuka) this question. 'A stranger came to you while you were sleeping. Suppose he could have raped you, but he didn't do it and masturbated himself. What would you think of that?’ The voice actor said, ‘Maybe, disgusting...?’ The line was then adopted. (Sorry if my English is not correct.)

The dragon disintegrated after it died because that's what monsters and demons do in this world when they die. They're inherently magical, and when they die they dissolve into "mana particles" (as Frieren herself will explain in a couple of episodes, but this thing with the dragon disintegrating isn't a plot point so I wouldn't call it a spoiler). Apparently parts can be harvested from monsters and prevented from disintegrating (like the shadow dragon horn in episode 1), but normally they just blow away on the wind.

everyone can come back after this, Asuka and Shinji just get back first. also this is not the same as the TV ending, that is a misconception. The director hideaki anno confirmed that they are seperate. But basically in the end shinji rejects instrumentality, so everyone is free to come back. As for the the final choking scene, I dont believe he was actually trying to kill asuka, but he was trying to make sure he was back In reality so he was expecting her to hit him or something. Instead she touches his cheek and it makes him realize how horrible he was to her at the beginning of the film, and everything he just did. he learns that he can still be loved even after making horrible mistakes and doing horrible things. When they were in instrumentality, they learned everything about each other so they probably both have more sympathy for each other at this point. I was 13 the first time I saw this movie and I remember I was crying the entire time because I found it all horrifying and I couldn't believe what shinji did in the hospital. end of eva overall has good messages in it overall but the tv show ending is my favorite too, this one gets too upsetting for me. Still a good movie but it hurts to watch. If yall have any questions about anything that happened I can try to answer. This IS essentially the same as TV episodes 25 & 26, just told from a different perspective. Despite not having the 'congratulations' scene, this movie ends on an optimistic note. Shinji decides to abort Instrumentality in the end, all humans can climb out of the sea in their original forms if they choose to, and Shinji's mom drifts out into space in Unit 1 as eternal proof of humanity's existence (this was her whole plan from the beginning). End of Evangelion is very, VERY confusing on first watch, but the community has made very detailed sense (or, as much as they could) of it over the years. There's a lot of meta-allegory contained in the movie too, concerning the fan community, their attachment to characters and the EVA franchise, as well as otakudom in Japan in general. Very interesting stuff.

A great series, and a great end to said series. Also, an interesting note concerning Reigan's confession is that Mob figured that Reigan didn't have any powers (since Shigeo's ???% (or "mystery power") acknowledge and told Mob that Reigan was a fake), but Reigan keeping up the facade gave Mob doubt that their relationship was based on work (and Mob probably suppressed the idea, which went into his ???%). Reigan confessing the truth to Mob not only cleared up that misunderstanding, but also helped both Reigan and Mob to open up about their other sides, and allowed Mob to finally reconcile and find peace with his ???% and his powers. And for another fun fact for the ending: when Reigan dropped the cake, it's implied (at least in the original webcomic) that Mob was the one that caught the cake with his psychic power, but he caught it in a way that Reigan would still fall face-first into it (showing that Mob/Shigeo is content/no longer afraid of using his powers). I love this show, and I loved your reactions to it as well. It's been a fun watch!

If you want to know how old Fern is during the anime just subtract 11 from the years since Himmel’s death. In this episode Fern says that she is 16 years old and that is when it was 27 years since Himmel’s death. When Frieren met Fern at Heiter’s place it was 20 years after the death of Himmel so Fern was 9 at that time.

Frieren is re-contextualizing her experiences with her old party while travelling with Fern. This show uses flashbacks really well. Subbed!

Love that this first outing is an actual mystery, as we don’t know who the killer is until the end. It also has some really good cinematography for a film of this nature. Love the use of rain, and owls and birds cooing in the night. Really adds to the atmosphere:)
