Tamiya Nissan Skyline R32 GTR Widebody | 1:24 Scale | Part 2
In part 2 of the Tamiya Nissan Skyline GTR widebody build I focus on building the engine and adding details to the engine bay.
I 3D modelled and printed the single turbo setup, oil cooler, intercooler, air intake and strut brace.
Tamiya paints were used with some Zero Paints here and there.
I hope you like the build and enjoy the video.
Cheers!

Welcome to another video everyone, this time I start an new build of a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR. I didn't plan on making a video of this build but I liked how the bodywork turned out so here we are. Filming of this build was all over the place because it was more of an experiment with fitting a resin printed kit. I didn't expect it to go well so didn't film much of the process. Beautiful job! The ITB trumpets are awesome! I built this kit as well, but I don’t have a 3D printer so I had come up with my own solution. What I really think is very useful are the small ports you printed for the mechanical fuel injection distributor to receive the fuel lines! And by the way, the fuel lines that you bent up were also incredible! Extremely time intensive work! Did you use the ignition coil that gets mounted on the fan shroud? I didn’t see it and you had enough holes printed on the distributor to accommodate the coil wire. By the way, you cook pay for your 3D printer just selling those distributors! In 4, 6, and 8 cylinder variants!

    • @TheModelRoom
      @TheModelRoom 7 месяцев назад

      I didnt put the ignition coil on the fan shroud because I will be putting it at the rear of the engine on the chassis, this is how it was layed out in some reference pics I found. Yeah I do plan to sell some 3D printed bits like this in the future. Thanks for your comment :)

    I have had dusting issues with painting too. A large part of my problem was painting without adequate extraction. I also have a cardboard booth. The "overspray" remains volatile and floats around settling on the model like dust. A good extraction fan will do wonders for this. Initially, I found just painting outside with a breeze blowing across the porch was enough to prevent this "dust". Then when drying and curing thicker applications I cover with a plastic container. This video has given me some great ideas. I love this build. Awesome job.

    • @TheModelRoom
      @TheModelRoom 8 месяцев назад

      I think you are right, I definitely do need to improve my extraction. Ive also bought a new airbrush with 0.5mm needle and lowered the psi to 12psi and it has made a huge difference, little to no dusting anymore :) Glad you liked the build

    • @cococalm
      @cococalm 8 месяцев назад

      @@TheModelRoom My new booth project is to use an old tumble dryer, empty it of the drum and all electronics except the mains feed .... Need that for the extractor. This is big enough for the extractor to fit in leaving ample room even for some of the bigger models too. Access and lighting done to what suits you.

      I didn't have to mirror any parts, they were all there in the files I downloaded. The scale was incorrect for me too so I just measured the body shell and scaled the bodykit to match. I took abit of fiddling around to get it the correct size. I also spent some time cleaning the mesh and adjusting bits slightly in my 3d program. Hopefully he will reply to your emails and help you. Hey, you should invest in a dremel, this would probably help you a lot for when you need to carve stuff, like instead of poking holes and smoothing out with your metal tool, you could just use a dremel

      Yes you are so right! I do have a rotary tool but it's a more powerful one and im a bit scared to use it on a model, maybe I can test it on a sprue piece and see. Thanks for watching 👍
