How the backs and bottoms of furniture are done | Using Fablok
This is how many pieces of furniture including chairs and couches are closed off and all the internals underneath are hidden. The fablok system is great for odd shapes and curves as well. Using a locking system with little teeth, it staples on and grabs the cloth and then being hammered shut it holds the fabric firmly in place. Leaving a minimalistic finish with no exposed fittings or fixtures or staples.
The last few steps in furniture are typically outside arms, then outside back followed by the bottom dust cover then legs or feet. Job done!!

I put up CLEAR PVC blinds in my workshop!!

Winter is fast approaching, so I really need to get some wind breaks up to keep the cold out and the warmth in but also add much needed natural light. So I had these clear curtains in my old shop that I had made many years ago, but the new workshop has much narrower doors. So I have to trim them down to fit and also fit new timber rails to keep from interfering with the doors and hardware and n...

A more of an in depth video showing what goes into changing a bike seat cover and repairing the foam underneath - this time on a 2019 KTM 125 MX bike. Apply tension to the area where most shape is and constantly retention front to back as you work along. See channel f...

    I just don't understand how the side pieces worked out to be even. You measured from a square cushion and then you cut the corners round. Maybe I flunked geometry but I thought that would be a different distance for a round corner. Just Asking!

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve 7 месяцев назад

      If I had cut the top vinyl to the correct size it would have changed and become smaller once I added the backing foam. So marked oversize (square), then laminated, then shaped to the cushions radii's and also going off centre measurements to keep symmetrical. Both side boarder and piping are cut oversize and trimmed down accordingly. If the job requires exact side boarders then "finished size" perimeter needs to be plotted and marked accordingly. Hope that makes sense

    What was the little fabric at the end of the stitching? Where do you buy that stuff around the edge of the seat?

    • @stitchingsteve
      @stitchingsteve 8 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks for watching!! That little bit of fabric is scrap offcuts that I use to sew on to, to stop and start each sew line. It saves holding the thread or wasting more than you need to. Lots of comments about this... Might have to make it's own video 🤔. The stuff around the edge is either called Edge trim, door trim or push on windlace. Try your local Upholster/Motor Trimmer
