This time of the year, I usually only race before 9:00am due to the conservatory being the equivalent of a glorified greenhouse. I rode the Morning version in race cat 0-250 points, then this categorized for 200 - 300 points, my score is 207, whatever that means. This race was faster than the Morning one, despite the acceleration over the cobbles just before the aqueduct being harder to follow ...

@@CDethick thanks Chris, I was on the limit everywhere
For info: Internet was degraded our way, I don't think it was the Companion app. Also, this video took four hours to upload.
... / ... , was this precious finding in France or U.S.A. ? Is there a possible "to sell thing" some place in Portugal ? 10 € ...
Hi, this is in France, if you visit France, check out any brocantes and fleamarkets. Most old bikes have tyres and innertubes that need replacing, so remember to bargain down the price. You might find similar in Portugal. My biggest regret is not buying a Joaquim Aghostino bike last year. That regret started my passion for old bikes.
Your ten euro bike has potential. You will be pleasantly surprised with its performance after you complete your maintenance protocols, sort out the pedals and install new tires. You may also want to consider a new saddle if needed. Take care and good luck.
Thanks, sir! I have some testing to do ;-)
Replace wheels crank set chain tryes inner tubez freewheel. That bike probably made by falcon cycles hull in the 1970s
The bike was made my Nordstar in the north of France, they had a big factory rolling out steel bikes for whoever wanted them. Supermarkets etc. The aim is to keep it running as is, except I'll need to replace the tyres and innertubes.
Whoops, Starnord, not Nordstar. After the northern star. Company was run by Bernard Dangre.
the frame is salvageable, everything else moving needs recycling
Including me 🤣
If you really want to ride it you'll need to disassemble it completely, clean, de-grease, and reassemble. I would also carefully inspect the frame for rust inside. You can probably get inexpensive pedals for the crank, like the kind for one piece cranks. You should be able to disassemble the original pedals and overhaul them. Most of the alloy parts can be cleaned up and polished. www.youtube.com/@RJTheBikeGuy
Agreed. Basically, what I did was a 'first operation' was: Remove and degrease / clean the chain. Remove and service the bottom bracket. Disassemble the rear mech rollers and degrease and clean/grease/lubricate as appropriate. Adjust and regrease the wheel bearings. Next step is to ride the bike for a while and check exactly what needs extra work. The brakes and pedals feel OK, and have been lubricated. I'll need to replace the tyres as they are old and won't last much longer. Originally my intention to leave the rims and aluminium parts 'as is', but I've been cleaning and polishing in my spare moments 😉
Good lord man, are you running zwift on a potato?

Great video as always Trevor and thanks for the company today...
Thanks it was cool to race together and great to see you back.

Congratulations on getting up the top under an hour,my goal this year
Thanks David, I was convinced that I was never going to have that level of effort, but it happened, and I was overjoyed, believe me. I now need top lose 6kg if I want to do that again ;-)
Cracking ride Trevor 👏 Having worked my way from D up to B I can say the difference comes from climbing out of the saddle with a lower cadence and staying in the blob. You did well in the last lap 👍
Thanks, after a three months enforced layoff (knee injury), I started from a true zero on 1 jan, so what I've learnt so far is cardio respiratory is fairly quick to build up, but muscle strength is quite slow. Good thing is I feel or 'see' improvements almost weekly. But I really did enjoy this ride.
Great tips!
I have absolutely no idea how you did not get a heart attack, for real.
Definitely not my sort of circuit but I survived. Stage 2 should be better, but it wont be the same participants.
Nice ride. Could probably have saved some watts not dangling 4s off the front the group with 3 dudes for the first 7 minutes, and not closing every gap yourself, but still a super strong finish. Kudos.
I didn't think the second group would bridge, but this series is going to be hotly contested. I was too concerned with letting Oscar get away early. He could have won this if he'd saved his attack for the second time up the hilly kom.
Tough finish. You did really well. That was some attack by M. Ade.
Thanks, I was waiting for that attack, but it came from really far out.
Well done. That's Rolling Highlands by the way!
Thanks, I'll change the title. Not looking forward to next week - Richmond Rollercoaster.
D. Miguel's weight is 75kg so his 1.8w/kg power is 75 x 1.8 = 135 watts. Your 1.8 will be different in terms of power output in function of your weight. Have fun on zwift!
Hard work! Well raced, good result from final sprint.
Thanks Simon, doing a bit better than expected, but I was toast at the end. Completely forgotten about how to sprint at the end. Too far back at 600m to go.
Nice finish. Your power and hr data was cropped out of the frame. Would have liked to have seen your hr and watts as you were climbing.
Hi, thanks. I think you're referring to the inserts ? Yep should really redo the comparison. Parameters from both events would have been interesting.
Hi, I enjoy your videos. If you don't mind my asking, how old are you? And do you know your actual maximum heart rate? Thx
Hi there, thanks for the feedback. I'm currently 65, but only weeks away from my next birthday. Max HR is probably just under 165 as I'm coming back from 3 months total inactivity. I'd hope to see it up to 170-172 later in the year (gone are the days of 190). Three months total rest due to a knee issue leaves me unfit in all senses, no muscle definition, and definitely overweight (Zwift weight up to date). That's like a triple penalty. But I'm getting back into it.
@@themusette5894 the reason I asked is I thought you were doing quite well for someone your age. I'm 60 and have just begun zwifting a week ago and am not happy at all with my level of fitness. I thought I had a decent baseline coming into this but I'm completely struggling. My ftp was initially measured at 149 and zwift upgraded it to 154 the other day. I guess I'm worse off than I thought, lol. I really enjoy zwift though and plan to continue with it. I've used it 7 straight days now and really love it. I just wish my ass didn't hurt so much though. 😆 Ride on!
Just finished my Cat D race earlier. I had a massive stitch mid-way but managed to recover it a bit. 🤣 Makes a change to find a Cat D racer on RUclips tbh.
Well done on the recovery! Its actually reassuring to see Cat A and B racers suffering just like me. It's all relative in a roundabout way. It's all about fitness and fun (and trying). Cheers!
Really enjoyed the video. I was totally rooting for you on that final sprint. I did UCI Richmond on a gravel bike once. Madse it impossibnle to stay with a group
Thanks, I was a bit dubious about publishing full length as it's quite long. Doing this again tomorrow on the Concept, and should publish a comparison between Tron and Steel shortly afterwards.
@@themusette5894It's a shame we cannot see your HR in the stream as your video is over it.
@@MunkiiYebee I absolutely agree, I accidentally placed the video insert too high. When I checked the final video I realised my error, however, it took 35 minutes to generate, so I decided to suck up to it. Lesson learnt. I just looked: Out of the start: 134, after getting dropped and chasing 153 then settling in around 144. After the aqueduct, it got harder HR: 156, 164 at about 20k, then 148 - 152 as I tried to recover
Great sprint at the end! I was shouting at you that you left it too late, but you were right. The other guy ran out of gas.
I was saying to myself it was too late too. I didn't anticipate, but all of a sudden - never stop believing 😉
I did it this week too. But although outside was freezing it was a really sweaty course, the petit KOM is hard! I'll be posting the highlights next week ✌️ Good effort btw. I subscribed, keep it up 🫡
Thanks, that Petit KoM right at the start was tough, I saw 10 kph on the hill and didn't realise it was actually that hard. I thought I had a technical issue.
ha your device seems like it was in zone 6 at the start there trying to load all the riders and their bikes 😅
The train was leaving without the passengers 🤣
You’re a hero!
Thanks! Just trying to have fun and not be a zero 😉
Looks so easy for you. I assume your are not 140lb / 63 kg guy like me. But i do agree, climb portal make it a lot easier and faster to get 100km badge especially 125% mode just released. Climb hard descend fast!
Yep, currently 88kg, so a short steady climb is very important in order to hit the 'gas' hard on the way down.
Radio tower descent with aero power-up does the trick
Yes, that's the classic way, but there's a lot of climbing required first. Hauling 88Kg up there isn't much fun. 😉
Chapeau. I'm still figuring out whether I want to try my hand at racing in Zwift. Notwithstanding my concerns about my level of fitness and stamina at this stage of my life (60 years young, both hips are not original equipment), but aside from just pedaling harder than everyone else, I'm still learning what a good strategy would be. Good on you for reeling in that rider who was 25+ seconds out towards the end. Looks like your comrades chose to not help in that effort and then stole finishing positions from you at the line. Perhaps this was a deliberate trade that you made for not taking as many pulls initially? Or were you all communicating with one another discreetly? Regardless, you definitely have shown this not too tired yet retiree, the possibilities. Thank you.
Thanks, you could try Tour de Zwift route C. Although it's not billed as a race many (most) people treat it as such. You'll get lots of participants and slip into a group you can stay with. They usually work well together (since it's not an out and out race) and it's a great experience. I'm coming back from an enforced break and am very unfit and 65, it's not an issue I know lots of people over 60 who build up a very good level of fitness. Try the Tour de Zwift GROUP rides (some weekend ones are actual races)
Thanks, Not being fit, I couldn't contribute much, and I felt the other rider wanted to do all the work. I knew he would accept help at the end, so a smooth acceleration rather than a hard acceleration helps. There was no communication,, usually people understand what's going on.
I always have a tea for my warm up! Thought it was just me that did that
I also have a small thermos flask that is perfect for sipping and Zwifting without drinking cold coffee
awesome is it still working?
No 😞, they fixed the bug, it was only for stage 1 anyway, where the powerup was a 250XP bonus. Watch 'Don't Get Dropped Cycling's video from the weekend where he did it.
@@themusette5894 cheers mate anyway
Good stuff. You had me a little stressed you wouldn’t make it in time!
Sometimes you make it, sometimes you don't
Very interesting. Nice work! 👍🏽 I’ll have to give this a try right after I finish getting my Tron Bike next week.
Good luck, the difficulty with the climb portal is that there are no visual cues like trees or houses, but basically accellerate from the top and be read to accellerate again. Fastest bit is about 400m from the top arch, if I remember correctly.
Did you get yours? I started September, but realised it was still a long way away as I reached December. My goal now is to complete the last 13000 in the last week 😂
I sure did, suffered for it though, as I had bronchitis on Christmas day and took 2hrs 15 minutes to get from bottom to top 🤢🤢 Good luck!
I would add (1) Get your music and/or podcasts sorted out to entertain you along the route and (2) Coast down the hills
Nice job. I got that achievement during an event on the Innsbruck KOM. Heading down the steeper side, in a large group, there are sections of 15-16%. In one of those (still in a pack), I hit the Draft boost (which I had got a the top of the KOM) to help push faster down the hill.
Woohoo...look forward to "hearing" all about it! Good luck all...
Wow! Great job on the sprint Trevor.
Not the best of ideas, I injured my knee, won't be riding again before December methinks.
@@themusette5894 Oh no! Not again. Sorry. I sympathise, because I've done something to myself too. Completed FRR Tour France and have felt bad with no power on every ride since, even zone 2, like overtraining. Staying completely away from bike for a while.
