Yet another name for that brush is comb or comber.
Derek, I've noticed your arm possibly resting on a stick of some sort. I'm 68 years old, I like to paint. My hand shakes and I'd be interested in your thoughts and suggestions to compensate. If the stick is used for that purpose, I'd be interested in knowing more about it. Also, I'd be interested in your thoughts on how to market and sell paintings. Lastly, I've discovered I have a hard time parting with some of my paintings and would be interested to know if that happens to others. A personal response isn't necessary as I'll listen / watch for your response in future RUclips Videos. Thanks, Michael
Great question. It is called a mahl stick, some call it a pogo stick, but it is for the purpose of resting your hand because it can get shaky after a while. Look up mahl stick and see how nice they are. I may do a video on them.
I'm a total beginner and this helps a lot. Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome
Very, very lovely!
Thank you
Very helpful, cheers and keep up the good work!
Thank you
Wow very nice painting Sir. I like .i still always follow you channel. That oil or acrylic sir
Thank you, it’s in acrylic
The leaves should overlap some of the branches more, and the background feels a bit too yellow for my taste, but overall it's not bad. Well done :)
Cant hear you sort out your auo
Great thanks❤❤❤❤
You’re welcome. Thank you
I really like this one… I’m a sucker for a good beach painting :)
Thank you
Beutiful
Thank you
It really help with my painting! Thanks 😎
I am glad it was helpful
Thank you from Vienna 😊
Amazing how you can stay "between the lines" with the table bouncing like that!!
Thank you so much sir, great help for me 😊
Most welcome
Thank you so much ! This is great to make them random rain streaks so it looks more natural!!! One question why did u use gesso instead of paint ?
It’s just because I had the gesso on my palate. I use gesso a lot because it is creamy and works great for mixing and bending sky colors. You can use any white color.
TY, I am going to try your technique 😉, I do struggle with this.
Good luck!
Your "cut out brush" is called a grainer brush.
I love that you used the toothbrush to make a gravel road. I am working on a gravel road going yo an old boy scout cabin and this is perfect!
I've been watching so many videos for beginners and I really enjoyed your tutorial! Please do some more!!
What color was layed down first before starting gravel
What kinda tooth brush hard ,medium ,soft
That is an angle brush Derek.
The brush you’re not sure what the name of it is called a rake brush.
Finally I found the video I was looking for. I am subscribing to this channel right now.
Great advice…you make it look very easy
Oh that dagger/sword brush will be great fir higher grasses in the foreground! Boy am I glad I found you today! Thank you!
Love it!
You can't use it wrong-- it's whatever works for you. I got one to work on a deer- I believe that's one place I've seen them used - in making realistic deer fur. And other animals too. Not so very different than grass, right? Thank you for giving me the first several steps for my grass field around mg deer!
I am watching from Bangladesh.
Appreciate it.❤️
Thankyou for showing this!!! I could not figure it out 😂
I just started subscribing to your channel. Your art instruction is my kind of learning. From kyle texas, thanks and keep instructing us with more videos. Thanks again.
I never knew what that dagger brush was meant for, so thank you.
Thanks from India for sharing your techniques Mr. Burleson. 🙏🙏

Thank you!!! This was helpful! Please make more videos!
Loved your ways of doing rain, but would have liked to learn how to paint the background...do you have a video for that?
Rain, snow, and water effects are the hardest for me.
Very good.
Great job I needed that. Thanks
Used for pine needles also
Brush is called a Rake brush
