Box Elder Peak | My Favorite Mountain
In this video, Marci VanHorn shows us why Box Elder Peak is her favorite mountain. At nearly 12 miles and 5,000 feet of vert, it makes for an awesome workout. Make your way up American Fork Canyon and head left just as you're passing Tibble Fork Reservoir. Starting at the trail head parking (40.490649, -111.655313) in Granite Flat Campground, heading up trail 43, and down trail 44 makes up the run Marci calls, "the Cowgirl Loop." Come along for the 6 hour run. Enjoy the hidden views, majestic scenery, and one of the steepest grades in the Wasatch.

Steph wearing Kogalla RA Flyby at Zion Ragnar

"The Ra light belt was amazing! This was my 7th Ragnar but the 1st time that I have actually felt comfortable running at night..." Listen to the spectator comments which were captured on video. “Wow, check out that light on her.” “That’s amazing!” “Whoa, I like that… we need that.” “That’s like a headlight.” “That’s like serious stuff..!” "That is... huh."
I love this mountain too! But I like doing this trail the other way around! Easier on the knees if you are running!
So, in other words, if I'm running an ultra, I need to turn my light back on every two hours?
Great question! So the Kogalla itself has 20 light levels. Anything level 5 or higher will cross the threshold to keep the light on constantly. I use the Kogalla (and have for 60 or 70 long races now). I haven't used these new battery packs yet, but I have used packs with similar shutoff thresholds, and can say I haven't had an issue with them auto-turning off for a long time. It was an issue six years ago when I got my first Kogalla, but never since. I run mine in the level 6-10 range, which seems like a nice medium for longer (100+ mile) ranges.
The “2-hour” refers to when the light is not in use. So, if you turn off your light, you will then have a 2-hour period or window to turn your light back on before the battery pack shuts off. It’s a built-in convenience feature so you don’t have to dig into your pack to turn the battery pack on every time you want to use your light.
This guy is for real
