This man and his band….yet Taylor Swift is Time’s 2023 Person Of The Year. Nothing against Ms. Swift, but there is a larger world of art that speaks of murky humanity.

Electric Ballroom November 1984, the final birthday party concert! my head cleared itself from the Discharge gig the night before as my pal and I read nme or sounds "what date" 23rd that gave us 10 days to get monies and tickets together I sold my gun my pal sold half his drum kit as the day draws close his Dad went ballistic as he bought said kit JEEZ I thought he was a peace loving hippy until he picked up the tickets and tore em up including mine /what had I done ? I was barely 16 with a paper round my pal was more worthless,we missed the gig.We had our first taste of loss , within weeks we had a flat one chair and the clothes we stood in. It's horrible and cold in Hull in winter but anger , youth deaf ears and determination Got us both back on track for experience of the live performances we lived for very soon we were the only 2 lads sat outside the Electric Ballroom tickets in hand for the very first live performance a la Nick Cave and the bad seeds I was honoured to have witnessed the post punk scene but that particular performance was sacred to me and that is what people crave and Nick,blixa,Barry Adamson and Harvey. Really hit it I'd never witnessed such honesty I was front and centre secretly recording away I recall an olive green suit which was only bettered by the holes in the worn out soles of his shoes apart from an idiot how couldn't stop shouting "the Carny " from that point on I started listening to people.
