It's funny because Kendrick is kinda acting out "people don't dance no mo, all they do is this" in the video. He's all too-cool, putting on a cynical cannot-be-bothered face while the little girl (and then others) dance around him. There is a point in there about returning to the hip hop roots of R&B, dance, social justice, regional sounds instead of this way-too-serious, mean mugging, afraid to have fun, hip hop that largely lacks heart and personality.

I must have listened to GNX 30 times already. It has no skips which for a Kendrick album is pretty common. My only complaints are: 1) The album feels too short. Funny because praise I would give is that it feels Too Short. Yay Areaaaaaaa!!! (I know that's Forty Fonzarelli) 2) Luther would be better as Marvin/Tammi because I think that the type of chemistry SZA and Kendrick have is akin to the original artists'. At this point I would never dare to say Kendrick is at his peak. I learned my lesson years ago. I believe Kendrick deserves it all and wants it all. He's making sure that there is no doubt in anyone's mind that he's the GOAT when it's all said and done. I also think he wants to venture out career wise with creating videos, acting, producing, etc.

Just for a frame of reference, Drake comes from Canada where there are 40 million people, which just recently surpassed California's 39 million in the population. California as a whole commonly supports its own artists. Everyone I knew was listening to Kendricks tracks on loop, including myself. Add that to all of the people all over the country and the world and you have astronomical numbers, they don't even have to be playing it over and over. So if you leave out the obvious, that Kendrick's music was better, you have to take into account his base is strong in California, One of the most populated regions in the world. I'll say that again The World.

I’m a GenXer who grew up side by side with HipHop. Hard to explain. But, in my opinion, this album takes me back to that pure 80’s hard after hours radio HipHop chopped mix flow. It also cleanses the pallet of all the poser “stuff” that’s been happening. It “rewinds” us “back” but at the same time “fast forwards” us to a time of fresh, open, and new creative canvases that hopefully sparks endless possibilities for other artists to now clearly see ways forward. Feels like it’s about to be like back in the day when everybody had their own flow, styles, vibes..,instead of the cookie cut sound of the week trends that’s been happening. Makes me hope Dot has forced his peers to shed the apathy and quick hit laziness of bandwagon riding. Maybe we’re witnessing the reincarnation of HipHop! GenXers were cast as the lost cause X factor gen. But our impact is undeniable. We reset, start things over… GNX is doing the same! Thanks KDot!!!
