Smallmouth Fishing Elkhorn Creek - Epic Tournament Day
I competed in a Cincinnati Kayak Fishing online tournament last summer. The boundaries are any water in Kentucky north of Lexington. Since I hadn't gotten much creek fishing in this year I decided to run up the main stem of Elkhorn Creek north of Frankfort. The water was higher than I'm used to but I was able to find good concentrations of fish positioned adjacent current in sheltered water. I finished the tournament in 4th place out of 36 anglers.

    How do you like that outback?

    • @thompsondoesfishing
      @thompsondoesfishing 3 дня назад

      I have a pa14 360 but I still love my outback. Its fast and is great in moving water, the kick up 180 drive is the best in shallow creeks. There are days I consider going back to just the outback as my main rig. Its simple and light compared to the 360. I wish it had horizontal rod storage and sat up a little higher. I've started fishing offshore on big water more and don't feel like boats can see me very well because the outback sits so low to the water.

    Nice video of one of my home lakes! Going there tomorrow as a matter of fact. If I can offer some constructive criticism, your hooksets look almost nonexistent a lot of the time. You’ll keep a lot more fish pinned on the hook if you set the hook a little harder. It looked like you were just sweeping the rod when you got bites. Giving the rod a good jerk, even after you know the fish is on would make a big difference.
