I'm honestly not trying to be rude and I'm queer myself but y'all lost me the second you said the characters aren't cats anymore... That's the whole point of the musical is that they're cats and they're weird. I guess, though, the adaptation isn't primarily for fans of Cats the Musical but rather for people who enjoy Ballroom and that's totally fair.

One can’t describe the exuberance, the talent, the excitement and fun this production possesses. I was not a CATS fan. I was so annoyed that CATS was coming back I vowed not to go in silence protest. I went… three times! The production is unlike anything I’ve seen. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music, the talent of the creative team and the T.S. Elliot’s words pair so well that, together, they generate an experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. I’m sad it closed because so many people still need to see this.

The audiences are set free from the regular decorum of sitting quietly in the theater. My hands hurt from clapping and I lost my voice from cheering. 🤨...Ohhhh-kaaaay. Let me see; 1) Can you sashay (0:01)? 2) Can You (JUST) lift a leg (0:19)? 3) (most important) Own either a 'dance outfit' or a leotard? Then, homey, you can go to this ball - and actually BE a 'professional' in it (cough-cough). (I) personally despise Andrew L Webber (schlock), and never could stomach sitting thoughone of his musicals (it's primarily a bridge & tunnel and tourist-geared thing. If you don't know what a 'bridge and..' is, the show's for you (ALL of his shows, that is). I can't stand people who took on to things which have been around - mostly unnoticed - for long periods of time (things such as the balls).

Luckily for Cats, Broadway has decided to pander to the lowest common denominator and make every D grade teen movie into a show, so...Cats is no longer the worst show on Broadway.

Cast recording? PLEASE!!! National Tour??!!??? PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!! Brilliant re-imagining of the much maligned stage version of CATS (the movie deserved all the maligning it got...). I read in the NYTimes that as Zhailon Levingston was putting this together during the pandemic, he initially "thought of a version of “Cats” in which an older gay man would play Grizabella and sing the show’s defining ballad, 'Memory,' alone in a gay bar." I though WTF? Are you in MY head? Oh wait, I envision myself as Grizabella and and I'd be signing "Memory" in the steam room at Steamworks Chicago...but I digress...I so wish I could get to NYC to see this and I hope it continues to have and give life. Congrats to all of you, endless and kudos and please keep it going. I mean if "Forever Plaid" could have the life it had, THIS can and should be another "Chicago.'..

I really don't like CATS but I am dying to see this show. What an inspired idea. Conrats to everyone. I hope there will be some kind of video available at some point for those of us who can't get there to see it--or even get tickets if we could get there. wow!

Um. They changed the choreo of West Side Story. I don’t like it but that’s what Broadway does. Yes Gillian Lynne needs more love and I wish they had chosen a selection of songs from different musicals but they maybe liked the theme of Cats and it’s time more people knew about ballroom/ vogue …

Thanks but no - I'll stick to the original Gillian Lynn production. Why fix something that ain't broke! Andy Blankenbuler's choreo was bad enough! I got used to it from seeing the tour but honestly it wasn't the cats that I fell in love with in the 90's
