Note: always use a cross or star pattern when removing or installing the clips around the chipset. Don't go sequentially around the part that has pressure on it. Especially when installing something that you need to be water tight always go across and perpendicularly to the next fastner

what reservoir/sinc/tubes do you recommend. I noticed on the site it states to be very carful about using different parts.

What's the thermal impact? how much more efficient is it than the air cooler?

Nice kit right there. I'm going to order this for my 3080 but my question is, how does the water flow? The previous gen had a one way orientation in Sereal, unless you rotated the terminal, then it's serial flow again in the other direction. So, with the new direct link terminal, what is the flow direction? Parallel maybe? There's not much info on this nor have I found a tear down of the terminal.

This by far is the best tutorial I have seen in a long time about water blocks. I will say, even though I was very careful, after removing all the screws attaching the fans, I did break off a component from the board. Luckily I was able to solder it back on and it works great and looks great too. Just giving a heads up when he said "It will be a little tougher for you to separate." it is! Again great tutorial.

The real issue with water coling a graphics card is matching the GPU to the GPU block. The EK website is garbage because it good at telling you whatever GPU you selected doesn't have a block. In fact I couldn't find a GPU that was not stupid priced that EK offered a block for. Corsair only offers block for 'reference' cards, WTF is a reference card? Good luck finding that list, but EK offers a block for 'reference' which is different from FE but again, good luck finding a list of those cards. It would be great if manufactures started manufacturing water cooled cards, as in specifically for water cooled and not retrofitted. Same thing with motherboards, with a mono-block you would only need 4-6 phases to power even a 300 watt CPU,. This would reduce costs, increase reliability since there are fewer parts, save space, and improve efficiency when the CPU is not being hammered. All of these also equally apply to GPUs as well.

Purchased the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 10GB graphics card, along with the EK-Quantum Vector[2] FTW3 RTX 3080/90 D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi. Recently, I purchased the EK-Quantum Vector[2] FTW3 RTX 3080/90 ABP (Active Backplate) D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi, hoping this will solve some of the heat issues that I have experienced with this card.

Hi. I have FTW3 3090 Ti, and it comes with triple wide or more than double wide IO plate. After I installed the EKWB FTW3 ABP block, I was fine till I tried to install it into the case. It's too wide with that IO plate and EKWB doesn't ship a dual wide plate so it fits on their vertical Gen4 riser in O11D XL, so I'm kind of stuck till I find a dual wide IO plate or take a metal saw to my existing one from EVGA. I noticed you guys sell an AlphaCool dual wide plate for their EISBlocks. Not knowing anything more about that I did order it to see if it works into a solution for me. I could not tell if the holes line up to my 3090ti, but I'm going to try it for the 20.00 dollars it costs.

confused about water cooling. would AIB gpu or reference gpu be better. should i first look to see what water blocks are made before buying a gpu so they are compatible??

Thanks for this video. I have the same card and water block and this made the removal and install a breeze. At first I noticed my card was missing a chip and capacitor and thought I broke something. Rewatched the video and saw it came like that.

Just got mine for the 3090ti ftw 3 evga card. You guys though were 25 more expensive than the ekwb site, and another online vendor, but you had it in stock ! So I guess a 25 more investment was wort it We will see when I receive it ;)

Planing a Video about the temps before and after the install?

The card (for the acetal version) shows 3090 thermal pad layout. 3080 uses thicker pads 2mm rather than 1mm.
