    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston Месяц назад

      I'm not sure I fully understand the question, so I'll give two answers. If you want to change the color, click on the color card to pick the color you want. Somewhere there is an option to show color, or show legend. It might be under the analysis menu, or might be right-clicking the measure. Look around and let me know if you can't find it.

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston 16 дней назад

      @@jackbivona2474 I don't know of an "easy" way to create a Legend for the TOTAL line. Here is what you can do. 1) After you create the dual axis chart, open the SUM(Dollars)(2) card. You will see [Location] on the color card. Drag [Measure Names] on to the color card. 2) This should give you another color legend. You can unhide the legend title. There will still be a gap between the two legends but that is as close as I know how to get them. 3) To change the name in the color box itself, you can edit aliases of the [Measure Names] and look for SUM(Dollars)(2). Another option is to create a field equal to SUM(Dollars) and call it total. Hope that helps.

    How can you show Percentage increase as a column for the same month in the previous year - but only show the current year values.

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston 3 месяца назад

      I would first play with the Year over Year change (table calculation). If you don't want to see the previous year's value, you can hide it. To make it dynamic is more involved. You may have to create a separate calculated field to calculate the previous year's value. Then create another field to calculate the percent change. Let me know how that works, or if you have sample data maybe I can work something up for you. (Sorry it took so long to respond.)

  • @jeffpike1607
    @jeffpike1607 4 месяца назад

    Great technique. Since index only corresponds to position (row number) in the table, it is not intuitively related to any of the lines of data. If one wanted to scroll to a specific name in the table, how would one do this? How could you link the name you are searching for to the corresponding row index number? Parameter action? LOD? I'm trying to accomplish this with a RANKED table which has a similar numbering scheme. Thanks in advance.

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston 3 месяца назад

      I would want to understand why you are trying to do what you are suggesting rather than filtering on a specific name. I am assuming the names will be dynamic (new ones being added), so tying to a specific number (in Tableau) would be tough. (Sorry for the late reply and lack of a solution.)

      @@TableauWeston In a long table of Customers, I could filter to a specific customer, but then I would lose all of the other customers in the table. If I wanted to see the selected customer in his/her relative position to other customers (remember, I am using Rank) then I could create a filter on Rank to help me scroll. However with a long list of names, I'd have to manually scroll to find the name. Rather than scroll by a number (Rank or Index table calc) i'd like to have the user be able to scroll (using the assigned #) to the name the user selects. Is that clear? Thanks for responding!!

Kindly update the title of this video to "Tableau Tutorial - Calculate the First Day of current Month/ Last Day of the Previous Month (DATETRUNC, DATEADD)" . If we need the Last Day of current Month we need to make use of the below formula in the Filters shelf and select True. DAY([DATEADD('day',1, [Order Date])])=1. This is just a friendly suggestion!!! Love the video very helpful! What would the formula look like if you wanted the details behind the 109 and not the 393 in the tool tip? How would you do that?

      Are you wanting to see the details for the particular category, like Furniture? In that case, just passing "Category" through the filter in the embedded visual should work. Feels like I'm misunderstanding the question. Please let me know what I'm missing.

    Prof Weston you have a wonderful voice and explain the LOD fixed function with date example very clearly, thank you from India.

      I am still finding a solution for First and Last date case statement for e.g. IF ISNULL([touchpoint_date]) THEN "Date Null" ELSEIF (MAX[touchpoint_date]) THEN 'Last Touch' ELSEIF (MIN[touchpoint_date]) THEN 'First Touch' ELSE 'Mult Touch' END

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston 11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the kind words. I think you want to compare the [touchpoint_date] to the First Touch and the Last Touch. I recommend first creating two LOD calculated fields. {FIXED:MAX(touchpoint_date)} as the Last Touch, and {FiXED:MIN(touchpoint_Date)} as the first date. Then use those calculated fields in the IF-THEN calculation.

      You may need to add additional dimensions to the FIXED calculation. For example, if you only want the Last Touch date for a vendor, product, store location, etc. , then put them in the FIXED calculation like {FIXED vendor, product, storelocation:MAX(touchpoint_Date)}. I hope that helps. Check out my other LOD videos.

    Thanks so much for the video. For some reason I can not seem to see the source field in mine. It just says none. Would you know what the issue is?

      The title is a little confusing (at least to me :( ). Can you explain a little more about which source field you are not able to see?

      Thank you so much for the response. So to give you a background I am trying to reset all filters which incöude 2 parameter range date filters. I have found a way to reset the regular filters, i am now trying to use the same button to reset parameters to the dates when the workbook opens eg. 01-01-2023 - 20-12-2023. I am not even sure if that is possible

      @@Syzemic This will be pretty complicated. I think you would need two parameters - one for the start date and one for the end date. Follow the video to set the parameters to a new value. I'm not sure if you can set the parameter to the value of another parameter. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you may suggest the dashboard user to select the "Refresh" button (a Tableau default) rather than trying to create a separate filter.

      @@TheGrabBag_RootBeer Yeah I thought so as well. Just from a ux prospective its better if we have one apply all button and one reset button. Also the reset button remains selected when you click it so you have to click it twice, seems a bit buggy.

    hello sir i have been looking for this dashboard for a long time Thank You so much .Sir what if i filter the bar char is percent of total What precautions i shall be taking . If Possible can i have dataset ?

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston 11 месяцев назад

      If the bar chart is showing the percent of the total, chances are the filter won't work because the percent of total is a table calculation that will not link to a specific field value. Do you have a location where you want the data set sent?

    When I add Totals at the bottom of my tables it add in the other names, how can I show totals and subtotals?

    • @TableauWeston
      @TableauWeston Год назад

      Under the Analysis menu, select Totals, then "Add All Sub-totals". You will then need to right click the dimension (blue bill) to unselect the sub-totals you don't want.

      @@ksourabh45 I find selecting something in the visual you want to download to be helpful. It helps Tableau know what data you want. I assume you are not trying to download an image or a text box.
