Looking for a nice 1988 C4 to go with my low mile Grand Sport.

To be in the US in the 1980’s.. wow!!! The Corvette C4, the girls, the weather, the heavy rock bands and festivals… owww you don’t know how lucky you were. Yes being a Brit I’d love to have lived in the states in the 1980’s. The Corvette challenge was created because they were beating all other manufacturers sports cars. They beat Porsche’s 944 turbo 29-0 they dominated them so much and had to be put in their own race car series. These race cars still had air con and radios in them..😂😂😂

Surprised to see this puff piece about Ark City. Nice. Went to college there in the late 60's from New York. The town was very welcoming to us kids from out of state. Got invited to dinner occasionally from the friendly townspeople we got to meet. Had a reunion with one of them 45 years later when I visited Kansas for old time's sake in 2013. A nice lady who owned a jewelry store had several of us over one Thanksgiving as it was too expensive to fly home. Still a treasured memory of mine from Ark City. Had a room in the Osage Hotel and drank 3.2 beer next door at the Roundup, a great country bar with a full wall color photo of a roundup crossing the (Red?) river from a western movie! Fun times before attending Wichita State.

I love this! My hometown. Ark City Schools are top notch.

Why am I here

My Mom and family are from Arkansas City. Grampaw moved there in 1905. Lived at 220 N. 8th St. Times were tough well before the great crash of 1929. Not a lot of trade there for a piano tuner/technician. They left for Cali-forn-eye-ay in '24, driving the old Flivver laden with furniture and spare tires, just like the opening credits of the Beverly Hillbillies. The old house is still there; not much changed in the neighborhood 'cept for paved streets. Still no fences between the widely separated houses.

What‘s that awesome footage of the ZR-1-launching presentation from, thats starting at 50:49 ??? Is there a full version of that footage or do you have more material of C4 ZR-1 developement/prototyping/launching-events? Thx so much!

I'm happy everyone enjoys this. Memories. The irony is that the Corvette Challenge had to be created because in the 80s, one man and this team of rebels beat everyone else out there, every manufacturer, including every other Corvette team, in every race. We're talking sometimes by 70 laps. However, his team was banned from racing in the Challenge. That was fine. GM gave him 2 Z28 Camaros and he went out and beat everyone with those cars as well. That man is Tommy Morrison and over a 25+ year era, his team included some of greatest drivers who've ever driven in the history of any racing. They are the ones who broke all of those records in the 80s, including Bobby Carradine who was name mentioned below. He was a hell of a driver and one of the nicest dudes I've ever known. And let's not forget the historic 1991 FIA World Records with 2 stock ZR1s that are still standing. The Corvette Challenge was a show. Yes it gave others a chance to race, but they're not the ones who put Corvette on the map for racing. Morrison is now in the Corvette Hall of Fame where he belongs. You either hate him or you love him, but you have to give him respect for what he did for America's Sports Car. Just a country boy who grew up on Race Street in Glasgow, Ky - about 20 miles from where they now build Corvettes. You can't make that stuff up.

I jumped to 14:30. He still uses that engine stand to this day. It currently has a Ford engine on it.

Hi! As a fresh owner of a 91 c4, i would like to know the name of the song, at the very beginning of the video, thunder in motion Plz!!!

The first song I taught him to sing was "Some Kind of Wonderful" when he was two years old, we would belt it out as loud as we could while driving down the road. When the "can I get a witness " line came up, he would sing "canna canna wiffissss"

My wife and I were members of the Wichita Region SCCA tech crew in mid '70s and also ran a green 911 and tech'd Cliff's older Vette numerous times...tree branches and all.

What a bunch of lies! There is nothing to do there for the young people. Taxes are high and the city can not even afford a dog catcher!

Ark city blows

Lived there for thirty years, and worked at Strother Field for about 23 of them. I'm glad it's getting some positive press...cause it's dying a slow death. IMO
