    More like "Mine's the Ferrari." No, more like "Mine's the helicopter." No, wait, more like "Mine's the private jet." Okay, I actually have no idea how Greg Norman gets around these days. Maybe he uses the bloody space shuttle or whatever. The point is it's not going to be in any way similar to plebs like you or I, now is it? You're not fooling any of us, Toyota. Still, if there's any justice in this world, that Holden was being used to carpool by Bob Tway, Robert Gamez, Larry Mize, and Nick Faldo.

    Two common sights during The Tiger Era. Someone (in this case Geoff Ogilvy) gives Tiger a run for his money, but ONLY because he's playing the round of his life.... and then Tiger responds with more and more birdies anyway. And also, someone playing WITH Tiger (in this case Michael Campbell) plays a decent round with lots of pars, but ends up RAGING, because making pars will make you think you SUCK when you watch Tiger play. You just couldn't beat this guy.

    Legend, should have won five cox plates if didn't go amiss. I'll explain why he should have and why he should be called Australia's greatest. He beat a previous two times winner in the great Sunline and also beat the eventual two times winner in Fields of Omagh. In between a three year old won the cox plate which northerly would have cleaned up as well. Unfortunately we'll never know from being injured,but I'd like to think he should. I'll never forget watching,the times you think he couldn't win but his heart lifted him across the line. A shout out to Sunline, before northerly I didn't think she could be beaten and it's a shame northerly was a gelding,as imagine their offspring

    On the comparison between Sir Don and modern day batters, people are saying that the speed, skill, and athleticism of bowlers and fielders make batting more difficult nowadays. And that Don only played in England and Australia, not in the sub-continent, and that he didn't play ODIs or T20. All of that is 100% true. But on the other hand, pitches today are much better prepared, and are covered if it rains (batting was notoriously treacherous on a wet wicket), also batsmen today have much better protective equipment, including helmets and chest guards, thigh pads, etc (back in the 1930s, a thigh pad was a towel shoved down inside your pants), boundaries are shorter today, because they have ropes inside the fence now now to protect fielders from hurting themselves crashing into the fence, batters have better practice facilities nowadays, and most importantly, the bats today are HUGE by comparison. Here's a photo of Barry Richards comparing his bat in 1970 with David Warner's in 2015. And even the bats in 1970 were much better than those in Don's day, 35 years earlier !! www.espncricinfo.com/story/bigger-bats-becoming-dangerous-barry-richards-944653 It's just my opinion, but I'll say that the only fair way to compare players of different eras is to compare them with their peers. Sir Don averaged twice as much as anybody in his era, but there is nobody in the last 30 years who has averaged more 1.2x as much as anybody else in ANY era, let alone only the last 30 years. You think I'm a biased Aussie, right? Nope, I'm a New Zealander, and I'm supposed to hate Aussies after the underarm incident, so I reckon everybody who lives within 50km from Bowral owes me a schooner, next time I catch any of you blokes down at the local watering hole mate. Fair dinkum!! LOL

  • @benellis9665
    @benellis9665 Год назад

    Put into context. In round figures if a batsman plays 100 tests and averages 50 then he's an all time great: Lara, Richards, Tendulkar etc. Bradman in round figures played 50 tests and averaged 100! Everyone talks about 99.94. But his all round first class average was 95 from a staggering 234 matches!

    I watched this tournament from my dorm room in 1996. Taylor Smith getting DQ'd sent his life into a spiral of substance abuse, mental health, and he later died 11 years later at age 40. It's hard to watch this event highlights because he not only did he die, but Payne Stewart also died. And scarily, Tiger almost died 2 years ago in a car crash.

    • @hsmith633

      @@fred1eful wow. A couple of wins. The fact you know those two wins and years , shows how precious those wins were. And if you googled. Same thing. Anyway obviously I’m over doing it saying every single time, because even that Aussie team which I remember dominating, even suffered defeats against Lara’s West Indies, which was the last stand before the proper downfall of West Indies cricket. The West Indies sides I’m talking originally, are the goats. There’s no denying it
