Unless it's purely about nepotism I don't believe you're even hired at Google.
I didn't have any relatives at Google when I was hired. Our clients that landed roles there did not have relatives at Google either. So I'm curious to understand where you are getting your data from.
@@kadimacareers Purely from credibility, and perception of high-standards in hiring.
is this "offer letter" the legally binding contract or is that a separate document?
It's an employee agreement. Not a contract.

Can you get the time right when you care
Sorry, but I don't understand. Would you mind clarifying your request?
@@kadimacareers are you a bot? You made a conditional statement and contradicted yourself using time
Such an intriguing perspective! What’s one strategy that’s worked for you in shifting from applying to getting hired?
Simple. Build relationships.
Cool video Alan
Thanks, let me know what else you'd like to see.
Congrats on landing the job at Google! What was the most surprising part of the process for you, and any tips for navigating it?
The most surprising thing was how hard it was to land the interview. The interviews were tough but getting the interview is a herculean task.
Love these insightful nuggets Alan
thanks!
Thanks Alan for the pragmatic insights
Glad you enjoyed. Let me know what other content you'd like to see.
@@kadimacareers Thanks Alan. I recently accepted a stepping stone role after being unemployed for over a year following a mass layoff. It doesn't seem to be a good fit so far & I asked ChatGPT about the minimum time I should stay before looking/leaving for more desirable roles or organizations, and it suggested staying at least 6 months, ideally 1 year, to avoid being labeled as a job hopper and draw red flags and include the new role/organization on the resume/linkedin while applying for roles at that time. Would love to get your thoughts on approaching this.
@@LearningAndGrowingInLife Unfortunately, ChatGPT is wrong. There are no rules. It really just depends on your narrative and how you own your story. I left a shit show of a company after a four month stint, sandwiched in between longer rides at Google and Facebook. No company has ever not hired be because of my perceived job hopping.
@@kadimacareers Thanks Alan for keeping it real.
This is very informative
Thanks!

First to comment :) - great interview
Thanks for being the first, Peter!

What a legend.
hey, thanks so much for sharing this. With your experience, I can’t imagine how they didn’t hire you. Their loss!
I just go with what Steve Dalton says - keeping resumes objectively perfect and subjectively good enough and using his 3 hours rule and use the time to prioritize the more important aspect of job search which is networking. Good interview though.
I'm a big fan of Steve and his 2-hour job search as well. It's all about the efficiency and effectiveness of the job search.
Interesting discussion! Thanks for sharing! ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed!

Interesting discussion! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for listening!
I was just focussed on those Sony headphones 😅
The comment section is not the vibe. Some of y’all completely missed the point he was trying to make. Being high functioning does NOT mean it’s any easier for you to manage your daily routine while being mentally unwell, it just means that it’s easier for other people to deal with your mentally illness because you “appear” put together.
Yeah wtf is wrong with this comment section??? Personally I was diagnosed wiht low functioning depression, didn’t do anything for 2 years, skipped school and isolated myself. So I can’t speak from experience but I have watched high functioning depression happen to a friend. She ended up almost successfully taking her life. Luckily someone was there and she was taken to the hospital just in time. After that she couldn’t do anything, just stay home.
Depression isnt real
neither is your dad
Neither are you, every human experiences depression at least once in their lives especially if a person close to them dies. Never think you will never get a bad case of depression in your life.
Damn bro this really is depressing. I’m so sorry for what you are going through. God bless you for the suffering you are enduring
thank you for bravely sharing your journey with high-functioning depression. To those leaving unkind comments, perhaps they haven't taken the time to truly understand. Remember, quick judgments often lack depth. Keep shining your light, you're making a difference!🎉
Thanks for your kind response on this! It was really meant to show that some people get through their day and still have depression. The whole episode actually talks about how our guest, Newton Cheng, managed to power through it 😁
Aka glutton for punishing your body to make some achievement. It’s kinda the norm for certain types of people
If you watch the full episode, that wasn't the case 🙂
😂😂 yeah okay dude sounds like you got a real tough time of it
Watch the full episode to get full context, thanks!
Being truely depressed has nothing to do with your circumstances. It's just straight up an imbalance. I have a great life everything is done for me essentially and I'm free to roam and do whatever I want anywhere I want but yet I still get insanely depressed to the point of hurting myself or others depression really has nothing to do with how shit life is
People like you are the reason why society can't be taken seriously.
Yep lol
👍🏻
High functioning depression, aka, we can't find anything wrong with you but we need your money
Bro does not know mental ailments aren’t always physical (but so be real you genuinely can’t like not see that depression can look like a million things)
ทักทายค่ะ
Very well put 👏

Thanks so much for the advice and insight. Wish I had this when I was in business school. As an introvert, I spend no effort in networking.
Totally agree. I always had mediocre managers who weren’t a good fit w me. I finally had a great manager and group and it was such a great working experience. For once I really enjoyed going to work. But recently I was restructured to a diff group with a manager I can’t stand and it’s been a horrible experience.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully things get better for you 🙏🏼
