    Hi Grace, I am a fellow SLP and have started a a newsletter for graduate students in the field and for those wanting to learn more about speech-language pathology. I am wondering if you would like to be part of a future edition. I have called this The Prospective SLP newsletter and while it is new, I am trying to highlight some SLPs in the Weekly Spotlight, a section of the newsletter that allows for SLPs to share their experiences. My goal with this newsletter is to share helpful resources for students, answer some questions, provide helpful resources, and ultimately be able to provide contacts for graduate students when they graduate from their programs and start looking for employment. If you would like to be in the Weekly Spotlight, please let me know. I am hoping that, over time, this can be a helpful resource for prospective SLPs and be beneficial for the SLPs that have offered input as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

    thank you for posting this! I'm currently in school to teach high school but volunteered this school year with special needs little ones and fell in love with it. I'm indecisive with what I want to do, i'm between teaching little ones or being a speech path so videos like yours are perfect. Keep up the amazing work, you're making big changes for these kiddies.

    Hey! I’ll be starting a teletherapy position for an elementary school in a couple weeks and I’ve never worked in a school before. How do you do/manage group teletherapy? Most of my caseload will be groups. What do the kids do when it’s not their turn? Do you do one activity that works for all the kids in the group?! It’s hard for me to envision group therapy virtually 😅

I’m on my 2nd year working at the schools and def loving the work life balance :) I feel very lucky for the district I work for too which caps my caseload to 55 students. And I’m also able to manage the paperwork pretty well too. And thank you so much for sharing resources! I’m still learning and continuing to try new things with students :)

    Hi Grace!! Thank you so much for posting this video! I'm also doing my undergrad linguistics courses and am hoping to eventually apply for SLP graduate program. I'm also an early childhood educator, and videos like this can teach me how to better play and communicate with children with special needs in my care. It has always been so disappointing that I am not able to help children who needed the most support (where I live, ECE needs to care for 8 or more children simultaneously). I admire the type of work that you do and hope that I could eventually provide individual support for children in my care. Please keep posting these videos:)) Happy Lunar New Year!

    hi! im a graduate student and i graduate next year. ive been seeking advice for the most supportive and the most conducive environment for learning and growth as a CF. I've had some say to avoid the schools, and shoot for private practice. I've always wanting to work in a school because i like the environment, the autonomy, and of course the breaks. i also want to eventually become an ex-pat and work abroad with disenfranchised children. what advice would you give? what are some things that i should keep in mind as a soon-to-be slp? thank you!

    • @GraceSojLee
      @GraceSojLee 11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely! I use a total communication approach, which accepts both verbal and nonverbal forms to build communication skills. ASL can be useful for students who are not yet ready for spoken language by providing a means to still express their wants and needs.
