I don’t know why some guys get on here and say stuff like “leave the kid alone”. I’m 50 yo with 7 kids ages 21 down to 3yo. Coaching baseball for 10 years and literally re-taught myself to swing like this and it works! My kids batting averages are phenomenal. My daughter is 15 and can hit homers and she doesn’t even want to play! Shes a girly girl lol. All I’m saying is get your dusty bat out and go hit some off the tee at a field and you’ll be amazed how much LESS effort it takes to drive balls. Leave the coaches alone!

I think this is a great explanation of the difference between a really good hitter and an elite hitter. Don't stop at good results, tweek the little things and maximize your results

My son is 9. 4'9" 110 lbs. I alternate in practice. 29" -12 and a 30.5" -10 a 30" -8 ... and he really can swing all of them. with little difference in swing speed.

Most leagues require a specific drop weight for the year of the player. For example: 14u teams in the league my son was playing in required drop 5 bats. It didn't matter if you were a 5' 1" 14 year old or a 6' tall 14 year old. I think 12u is usually drop 10. So, in that scenario, you're only able to vary the weight a few ounces by choosing a longer or shorter bat by an inch or 2. What DOES vary a fair amount is where the weight is placed in the bat. Some bats are more end loaded and have a heavier swing weight and other bats have the weight a little closer to the handle. That Easton Encore in this video is an end loaded drop 5. I know, because that's what my son used last year. It's a great bat for a strong kid that has a good swing. The CAT X is better for a smaller kid that needs something a little easier to get around. Basebat Bros has charts that show swing weights for USSSA and BBCOR bats. Any parents or player reading this should check out their site if they need some guidance in choosing a bat.

Soto is a better hitter than Tatis, simple as that. Tatis is a 279 hitter with a mediocre 350 OBP% Soto is a respectable 285 hitter with a great 421 OBP% Tatis might be a better all aroung player, but Soto is just a better hitter than Tatis.

The arrogance of this clown is staggering. Literally every great hitter works on going down to the zone. Key point, TO THE ZONE. This clowns god Aaron Judge hit .140 and cost the Yankees the world series because all he does against good pitching is strike out. Meanwhile Soto just hits. I’ve actually been trying to get my son to stop tilting back like this. He started overdoing it this fall and had his worst season ever hitting. I 100% agree with your points about the weight staying back …I try to tell the kids to rotate off their back hip, not the front hip.

I’ve played baseball since I was a little boy in the 2000s and I remember coaches never talking launch angle even at college levels. I’ve been umpiring a few years now for all ages 10-18 and while it’s great there’s a few of these kids who can hit a couple bombs mostly it’s slow grounders or high pop ups. The old philosophy of hitting for line drives in my opinion taught better bat control and ball placement, leading to a better player all around. Even if you’re only smashing line drives the home runs are gonna follow behind. Just one man’s opinion: at most levels you’ll find hard grounders much more entertaining than a bomb as a spectator and player. Hell just look at this last WS to see what can happen

I say Castro brothers !!.....Both Tatis and Soto are great talents... Soto with the better bat path and mechanics. Tatis bat path here more around rather than thru the ball; reminds me of Stantons upper body mechanics,imho........Love Pujols as a player but his hitting analysis is way off and does not align with the way he actually swung the bat particularly when he was a hitting machine in St Louis!!...keep up the great teaching
