I’m a truck driver and sometimes even I ride the left lane. By the way, if that box truck is under 26K, it’s not considered commercial!!

Not true. A commercial vehicle has nothing to do with weight. It has to do with the purpose of the vehicle. A commercial drivers license (CDL) is required when a vehicle is 26k lbs or more. This doesn't mean that vehicles weighing under 26k are not commercial vehicles. You don't need a license for commercial vehicles weighing less than this but you do need a DOT medical for commercial vehicles weighing more than 10K.

i think the idea of trucks n tha right 2 lanes are total bull !!! unless a truck is makin a delievery ALL trucks should be n tha two left lanes & any car caught in the left two lanes should be fined ! this way all tha 4 & 2 wheel traffic can enter/exit an not b allowed to b n truck only lanes because most trucks are just passing thru !

You are wrong. On a multi lane hwy(interstate) like you are showing, trucks OVER SIX wheels are restricted from the left lane. Dot will post signage on the restrictions,ie… no trucks over six wheels in left lane or trucks over six wheels must use two right lanes etc…. Three lane roads trucks must use two right lanes, a two lane road trucks can use left lane to pass. Law is clear and simple. The trucks you showed in the left lane have six wheels
From the NY DOT: "Vehicles bearing Clean Pass stickers can travel the 40 continuous miles of HOV lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions along the length of the Long Island Expressway from Medford in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, to the Queens border. Please note that all commercial vehicles are prohibited from the left and HOV lanes - regardless of vehicle type. If you have a commercial vehicle, even with Clean Pass stickers, you may be ticketed while traveling in those lanes."

NO, thats not how the law reads. "Commercial trucks & vehicles towing must stay in the 2 right hand lanes at all times'. SO, if there is only 2 lanes, a truck can absolutely use the fast lane. They have just as much right to the roadways as cars do. !
