Let's Make a Drop Liner Duffle
Просмотров 1903 месяца назад
In this episode of Let's Make, I go through the entire process of making a Medium size Drop Liner Duffle bag - it's a long process, so this one is for the sewing geeks out there. My apologies about the framing / focus on the first main assembly shot, I only realized when I was editing - lessons learned for next time!

Boat Project - making and installing the propane locker
Просмотров 4957 месяцев назад
In this boat video episode I make a foam and carbon fiber propane locker since the cockpit is still so accessible. Next we have to figure out the steering system including rudder placement, pedestal, and making a mold for the cockpit floor.
Touring the world's best sail loft

I was lucky enough to get a full tour of North Sails in Minden, Nevada! Check out how they turn raw fiber into perfectly 3-dimensional sails that power everything from America's Cup foiling monohulls to every kind of cruising boat out there.
Making custom tool cases for KC TOOL
Просмотров 5238 месяцев назад
I was stoked for the opportunity to work with KC Tool to develop and make these tool rolls for a primo homeowner tool kit. Everything they sell is made in Germany, so you know the tools are all about as good as it gets. While editing I decided it'd be nice if I just shut up for a while and not have any music either, a little #ASMR vibe! You can buy this limited release tool kit at www.kctool.co...

Awesome camper!
Would you do a custom job? We have 2 backpacks from the late 90s with tremendous history and nostalgia, one is just no longer fit for purpose the other is in much better shape. Can we get in touch with you to discuss?
You have a cockpit again. Good work.
thank you!
Having done much of the grunt work on a much much smaller boat restoration in Tom's shop, I still value my "graduate level" course in boat upgrades and paint prep from your very talented neighbors . I only over drilled and epoxied and re-drilled about 200 holes... Your project is kind of like the old narrative of starting "from a bare hull" and old timers used to say that when building a boat from scratch, the bare hull is nominally considered to be about 20% of the finished sail-away vessel. Another really old saying, but also really true, that a huge project is always going to be kinda similar to eating an elephant: just one bite at a time. A current quote I saw just the other day is from a guy that is constantly restoring and upgrading his classic small airplane: he writes that while he keeps getting a little older, his plane is getting younger! Your family is supportive and your dog loves you. With the occasional frustrations that accompany real learning you are living a life of growth and knowledge. You are envied. 😎
Thank you so much! What an amazingly kind comment!! One step at a time!!
WOW, thats a big project, great video.
Finally!
I love the videos! Wish my old Judi sewed like yours….time to trade up.
Wow... awesome detailed video with full explanation on materials and choices. Very handy reference video!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! The super long stuff isn't for everyone but hopefully there's some helpful stuff in there
@@TruceBags- learning so much from your videos. But you still make it look easy ( with all the right equipment ). I know it takes experience to build anything like that.
That's a rad looking backpack! Would be cool if you could showcase example load outs on the three different size drop-liner backpacks in a future video. Ta!
Cool idea! Thank you!
Hello, I really like your channel where you show how you make bags and work on your boat. Does this sling have a key clip in it? BTW, you made me a custom, large drop liner backpack in 2015, and I travelled to Ethiopia with it. Still have the backpack, but don't use it every day as it is large, but I love it! It's good for travelling or hiking. I also liked how you sent the backpack with custom beer coasters that said Truce Designs instead of including stickers like many other companies do. (I've no use for stickers, but coasters are always useful. It's also extra fun when they are from an indie maker like yourself.
Thank you so much! Oh yeah that was back in the day, I ran out of coasters quite a while ago but maybe I should order some more! Yes the Sling does have a key clip in it!
Excellent, I might have to order one... 😊
Yo ✌️
Glad you're upbeat about it. Good to know what's going on with you. That boat is going to be pretty impressive once done.
heyyy i made that super pacific light @7:10 !!
Oh awesome!!
good vibes!!
really nice design..another problem with mesh pockets is that they snag.
Truce is a hidden gem in this world of diy. Keep 'em coming bro! Thank you for your much needed insight and expertise.
Thank you!!! I'll keep 'em coming!
Owner, Company, and it’s product are all a 10+! I own this bag and it’s my last backpack I will ever own. I bought it to take on sailboat deliveries and to use for work when I run snorkeling day charters in the USVI. It is invaluable and because it’s from Truce it can be repaired and or upgraded as time passes. It’s the perfect size in medium. Now I got in to adventuring motorcycling and I am taking it on a four day BDR off road group ride. If you are considering one of these, I can 100% recommend Truce and Luke. I have never met Luke, but I have spoken with him on the phone and he is the real deal. His product quality is over and above anything I have seen in the backpack world. Any product that has the Truce name on it is hand made and no doubt has to meet his very high standards. Capt. Mike Conforti
Thank you Mike, that means a lot to me!!
Thanks for the tour of Super Pacific. Definitely well made - Unlike most RVs out there. Non rusting materials is a win-win for our weather.
Thank you! Absolutely, they treat their materials well!
Super interesting to see the thinking behind the design decisions, etc. Made want to check out your bags right after watching the video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Center Velcro divider could always be an option.
Totally! Modular interior organization!
Do you sell the fabric? I am interested in the Sparta Kevlar. I make large origami structures and I am seeking stiff materials tear proof materials.
Unfortunately not, I barely have any of that Sparta left - I do have a ton of B-grade sailcloth that might work but I would only call it tear resistant, not tear proof. Shoot me an email luke(at)trucedesigns.com if you want to chat more!
Can’t wait for the pattern love the idea of zipper on the pass thru pocket, going to use that on other bags
Heck yeah!
cool t-shirt. Nice bag! Good for carry on with toiletries or anything that might leak.
Luke, great toolkit bag. Well designed and seems it going to last a long long time! That waterjet is pretty awesome.
Amazing process, nice to have a viewing!
Amazing and not a palm and needle in sight.
Looks exceedingly expensive.
The irony of being based in the driest state in America.......☺
Love the content,DISLIKE the "music".
Nice tour; Lowell North would be proud. The evolution of fabric, yarn and shape is astonishing; I am old enough to remember sailing with canvas genoas, then dacron, to spectra, to kevlar, to cuben fiber right out of America 3, then carbon strands, but the game changer was North's 3Di technology, which we just saw here. Prior, sails were laid out and cut on flat loft floor vs a perfectly shaped mold.
Thank you!! Totally agree, the 3Di is crazy cool!
3DL was the original molded concept. 3Di came much later.
@@sbrunner69 Yes, I meant 3DL, sailed many miles with first gen 3DLs and they were a quantum leap forward IMO.
So cool that they gave you that tour. Almost 40 years ago, I used to work for a hang gliding manufacturer (Pacific Airwave/Windcraft) and our own sail loft developed and made those pretty traditional hang gliding harnesses that the guys using to move around over the sails.
Whoa that's awesome! I hadn't thought about it but yeah they totally do like like hang gliding harnesses!
Pretty impressive to put it mildly. That is incredible. Great video. Thanks for taking us along! Did you snag any remnants while there? ;-p
You bet I did! Grabbed some scrap out of the bins and made some stuff (pictured on the Instagram account) but I'm working on getting more!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I have see your all video I like your video
Very informative and well documented video!! Love your channel.
Thanks so much!
Please make playlist for nouka
Luke, another hit song. What a rad waterjet!
thank you! that watermen is so awesome for sure
Repairing an old backpack instead of replacing it is preferable because of its history. Good video! It's now prepared to create a great many more
Another banger Luke. That waterjet is rad!
Thanks Dan! Yeah that thing rules!!
