"Huntsville Special" If the car in the far right lane on the 6 lane highway turns on their left hand turn signal that means they are going to cross all of those lanes to make the left hand turn that's mere feet away. (Same for right signal in left lane.) Headlights are totally optional regardless of conditions or even who you are. Dark, fog, downpour? Don't worry about it! I've even seen the cops going around with their headlights off! Finally apparently you should beware the white dodge ram. We have yet to meet but I've heard some things. Bonus: DO NOT drive any other way aside from perfect in Madison county! There are no shoulders or guard rails to keep you from turning a simple drift off the side or an emergency pull over into a life threatening wreck. It's kinda impressive their roads are more dangerous than most of the gravel roads I grew up driving on in the hills of TN despite it being mostly flat land. I feel safer driving on the roads you could look straight down off the side of! At least then I had a rail of some sort or at minimum trees to keep you from rolling over.

Taking Research Park or Madison Blvd. from 565W, be sure to wait until the LAST SECOND to get into the turning lane. Also, always make sure to leave just enough space between vehicles so someone has to essentially cut you off to get to their exit.

The more aggressive you drive, the more space I keep between me and the car ahead of me

The lesson I have learned now is this: don’t drive in Huntsville

Born and raised here. In my 37 years, I never recommended living here. Most boring city ever!! The only good thing about it is you're within an hour or two from Nashville. You're also close enough to make Atlanta a day trip. There is absolutely nothing to do in Huntsville, and rent is going through the roof because northerners keep moving here, driving up prices for houses. They're willing to pay $300k for a regular size house because that's a bargain compared to other cities in the U.S. New subdivisions are taking over the beautiful farmlands. The houses are on top of each other. Yuck!! It used to be a nice place before so many people moved here paying those prices for cheaply built houses. If you love church, this is the place for you. If you have a family to raise, it is very safe. If you are an engineer, there are plenty of places to work. Other than that, it's too expensive and very boring. However, if you're from other parts of the country, you will think it's very affordable. If you have a high paying job, you will think it's cheap to live here. There are plenty of engineering jobs here. It's all about perspective. Very safe and boring place to live.
