Perhaps if one cannot explain something in short, one does not adequately understand it and cannot teach effectively.
Yo this was so different and I really enjoyed watching it
Yes - the live 12.1 changes the saturator settings - I am SURE of it :(
- I should test that actually (and will do) first thing tomorrow....

oh and whats the analyzer in the bottom left, just a window added with OBS?
what is this formant m4l plugin? 1:37:00
www.maxforlive.com/library/device/4322/formant-filter The analyzer is 'minimeters', it costs $10
KEEP GOING
Love thiss 💜🪽
this title speaks to me, though I also just consider those 45sec loops "finished", they dont need to be anything more than a self contained idea
ngl when i do Glitch-hop i sound like barely alive tbh XD no cap
just dont bother properly finishing, and releasing music becomes an exercise in sadism
re: "it sounds more believable panned to one side," have you tried a mid-side effect w the mid reduced to provide some separation between the "ears"? im halfway through sorry if you cover this later
Just noticed that I accidentally'd a word at 42:20 with the power of bad video editing, just want to clarify a bit on what I'm getting at All odd harmonics relative to some fundamental will be negatively symmetric at 180 degrees/down the middle and likewise all even harmonics will be positively symmetric. This directly applies to waveshaping algorithms - if you waveshape/distort a sound with an odd function/negatively symmetric wave, you generate odd harmonics, and if you waveshape something with an positively function or negatively asymmetric wave, you will generate even harmonics, which has a completely different sound
I had to rewatch this but found the aha moment at 42:38 by changing play speed at x0.5 to really digest it. I finally got it, but the play speed made me lose odd harmonics in the process.
the fastest 50 minutes of my life. never been so riveted by math haha
Title is brilliant lol
Dude you are cracked!! Thank you for this!!
brought to you by adderall.
Thanks a lot
Thank you man! I think that this kind of videos are useful both for increasing our own knoledge of the subject and for having new practical ideas to experiment with. Keep it up, great job
Man you’re such a great teacher please make some other videos on the subject I’m really interested
But what if the air wiggles and there’s no eardrums nearby to wiggle?!
There's no hearing then
My homie Fourier. Thank you for a great video it's been so informative
sick video
Thanks
Why is the lowercase phi used for phase?
Very cool, might need to watch it a second time
Your example at the end of the Phase Modulation Synthesis Section reminds me of a Reese bass. Are Reese basses just essentially phase modulation?
Here for flailiaq.
great lesson , thank you . like and subscribed.
Appreciate the explanation via trig and calc:]
I was just watching your "Tipper squelches..." video and thought "I wonder how this would work with Synplant..." and voila, up came this video after. Great stuff!
nice and informative, thanks!
Fundamental basis of universe ❤ good info
So useful, thanks a lot!
Hey so my favourite thing about jdilla’s music is how perfect his mixes sound, his kicks and bass always compliment each other such as in “kjay and we out” or “yesterday” and his choice of snares always provide a sense of belonging. With a grasp of these fundamentals will I be able to emulate such a style or is there more to it? What disciplines can I explore to learn more about this?
this is very epic and informative, i learned a lot about sound and wiggly air. i will approach life through the lens of sine waves, our lord and savior. all hail sine wave, wave has risen, wave has sunk. sine wave forever.
very epic, definitely the best I've seen this stuff laid out and helped solidify my understanding further
when i twist knob sound change
'Sound is just wiggly air' -- that's it, you've hooked me! :)
What is that oscilloscope and waveform viewer you use? This is awesome :D
Its called 'minimeters', its $10
This is super cool, thank you. You connected the dots on a lot of things I’ve noticed but didn’t fully understand.
Homie joseph fourier :D thanks for making informative stuff on yt!
This is the moment music turns into a rocket science kids. Love the way you explain things under the hood. Thank you for the video.
Glad I found your channel! subbed ;)
nice <3
Dope af saved this one for later. The mathematics make the music whether you like it or not.
Just finished taking notes this was seriously awesome 👍
Heard an R&B song in 3/4 today that changed the perspective of what 3/4 meant to me, so thought it was awesome that you did this lol. (Eyes Better Not Wander - Nicole Wray)
Dude fart noise’s are the best!
So what is the easy way to do this for normal music lol? Approximate this i mean.
Specifically just placing the hats above and the kick below for instance. Or placing the pads above and the keys below.
The easiest way would be just using a heights filter as I show around 21:33 in the video. How well it'll work depends on the frequency content of the sound you're using. Or use a VST like dearvr micro
WOW. EPIC.
