The river is now on it's way down from major flood stage, here at Fort Madison. It was certainly not anywhere close to record levels. You'll note the areas on the park's east end show no affects, due to the raising of the area with a good deal of the silt dredged from the harbor. Per request, an updated flyover of Fort Madison's Marina and Riverview Park. In this video, I did not cut any action out. I just hit the record button, and ran the mission till touchdown. It was a dull winter day, but very little wind, which was nice. It looks like we're in for some more nasty stuff tomorrow. Take care friends, and thanks for watching!

This is a short time-lapse video of a snowstorm in Fort Madison, Ia. starting 1-8-2024 and ending approximately 40 hours later. This was photographed at 1 frame per minute during that time, and at lower resolution to keep the file sizes down. FYI, I believe we got around 10" of very heavy snow. It's always interesting the see the wildlife congregating around our bird feeders during these events...

Looking to get ahead of the rains, I decided to fly from the west end of the city to the east end, featuring mostly bluff area foliage. (This took 4 separate flights to get the video segments for merging) Join me as we meander along the bottom of the bluff. It was a beautiful fall afternoon, along the banks of the Mississippi River, which made for a nice experience.

As I was involved in a discussion of the upcoming annular eclipse, I was asked to post this for a reference. It is a video shot during the last full solar eclipse, visible in the Central USA, August 5, 2017. Here is an updated 4K video of Fort Madison's Riverview Park renovation progress. We also had the American Serenade and American Heritage riverboats docked at the same time today. They appear to be linked somewhere mid-ship. I'm loving the trains in the background, as well. Thanks for watching!

In a slight change of scenery, this video captures the approach of the storm that went through SE Iowa, and Fort Madison at 4:15 PM, on Saturday 9-16. This clip was shot directly above my residence at around 200'. Luckily, I was able to land before the rains and strong winds cut loose! Have a great day, and thanks for watching!

As indicated, the American Queen cruises by the city of Fort Madison, IA, during the summer months of the year. it does not dock at this time. It is truly a magnificent ship, continuing to employ it's ancestor's paddle-wheel apparatus. Maybe one of my viewers can attest to whether or not it is a passive, or powered paddle-wheel system?
