Does the orange stuff work good for taking off paint?
@@guypeyton7355 i don't really like it much, but it works, just too slow for me.
This was the best. Everyone else skips ahead and doesn’t explain.
Thank you sir for this useful information.. I’m just a DIY hobbyist..but, trial and error I learned about DeWalt and those original mouse sanders. I’m lucky I didn’t need surgery..but, my hands have never been the same. I almost bought the surfprep during lockdown..It’s 2 years since you made this video and I was just in a shop that carried surfprep and Festool..both are have really gone up in price! I hope to be able to get one soon. My hands are killing me..i love you videos’ they are excellent lessons!
@notmyfirstrodeo6831 I'm glad I can help.
Actual gold :) Like an uncle teaching ya on a Saturday afternoon. He actually is also sooo funny even without meaning to. 😂 learned and laughed out loud lots. Thanks for posting
what is inside that big bottle , water or another different stripper ?
No, stain soaks into the wood, paint sets on top.
It's over twice the cost now...eek
Well, show me something that isn't?
Ty 🙏
Hi, This is a great video- thank you for making this! I have stripped and sanded all my kitchen cabinet doors and was thinking of using Arm R Seal (Satin). I have to do both sides of those doors. Can i do both sides of the door at same time or should i wait few mins or hours to do other side? Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks a ton :)
Arm R Seal is a great and very durable product. The only thing I see is the dry times. You probably need to apply 2 to 3 coats and wait between coats. It would probably be easier to do one side at a time. If you do both sides at once, how are you going set them aside to dry. Good luck with your project. Please send pictures.
@@darr1964 Thanks. I bought the Arm R Seal Satin a few weeks ago but havent opened the cans yet. I stripped and sanded all the doors and some cabinet box bases and this is the next step. I bought painters pyramids so use and will lay these doors flat when i do it and then after a week or so, ill put them all on a vertical rack similar to yours. I live in a major east coast city in a downtown area so will move out to another location for 2 weeks so I dont have to deal with the smell...
How can I repair the finish on oak cabinets? I'm looking to blend with the original color and finish.
Very straight forward,thank you.
Well done, thank you sir for making and sharing this video.
Thank you for all the helpful tips!! You've been a wealth of knowledge!!!
Was very relaxing watching the stain removal. Hi 📸 man Justin. Thank you for the tutorial!!!
Probably the best video and strpping advices I saw so far. Good work.
dont be a dario....lol
why wood conditioner on pine vs mineral spirite like oat? Is pine more pourous than oak?
Wood conditioner makes the stain absorb evenly and won't look blotchy. Minwax makes wood conditioners for water-based and oil-based stains. On water-based once it dries you will feel like a fuzzy feeling on it. That's from wood grain rising, so just give it a scuff sanding to remove it all. This doesn't happen on oil-based. If you're just adding clear coat and not staining do a water pop. Once you have wood or plywood sanded spray some distilled water on it, once dry scuff sand all the fuzz.
hi thanks so much for the video! mineral spirits or wood conditioner for birch? thanks!
Thanks M, really good vidieo. Great help restoring an old table needing some TLC 👍
I hate stripping furniture..i sand wit the toughest gritt sand belt then fine fin
I could watch your videos for hours! Please dont try to shorten your videos. Keep talking I am listening! You are too cool. I'm new to this so i need as much info as i can get. Thank you. Talk more! ❤
Thank you.
yes. I just found you too, great videos.. do more!
A refreshing change from the young ones all over RUclips. Don't get me wrong they can be informative, too. With you it's like stepping back in time to my childhood in NY. And you're tougher than most of the others. 😆 Thanks for helping this beginner out!
I love this my friend.
FYI...To get oil based stains, gel or not, off your skin and fingernails...Dawn dish soap and olive oil works great! Olive oil will also help remove some of the gel stain off the wood if you get out of a line when outlining figures...
I will be putting on an apron, as you wisely recommend. Thank you sir! Sensational work
I love your videos - super informative! I was wondering if you had any tips for me - I just finished a bar top with GF Black gel stain. I used Arm R Seal in Satin, applied with a foam brush and wiped off excess lightly with a shop towel. When it dries it was so cloudy and streaky! I sanded it down and ready to try again, but I'm gun shy. What can I do to avoid the cloud and streak?
ArmRSeal likes to be put on a bit on the thick side. It drys so slow that if you leave a few uneven spots, it will self level. Don't be afraid, the way I see it painting is like drawing, if you make a mistake you just erase it and do it all over while learning from your mistakes. Make a mistake, sanded, and start over.
Uma pena.que não consigo entender...kkkk😢
You are awesome, Montoya!❤
Amen, brother! Loved hearing your story and thx for sharing!! I too, was born to finish wood. I actually enjoy sanding, too! 😅
Outstanding video!
This was by far the most helpful video on how to use gel stain. Bought gel stain based on recommendations but used it with methods of previous staining and got horrible results. Sanded previous attempt down to base, worked thru the grits, and used MD's method with excellent results on maple. A little traumatizing to glop on that much gel stain, but with the slip coat of mineral spirits, 10 min. job with beautiful results, amazing!
Did I hear him right. He will not use chalk paint? I am a trooper.
Thank you, great information, and very helpful.
Your very welcome
Please use respirator and cross ventilation!
Love that color on the lower cabinets. Is it a blue?
How do you finish the legs? Especially when the legs are turned?
Thank you
I love to watch your in depth videos. I really wish u would record more videos because I love how u take ur time and show what ur doing and explain as u go along. Ur an amazing teacher honestly. I've watched ur videos many times over to learn and it would be so cool for u to take us along for more of the pieces u do at work ect. 😊
I’m thinking, “darn, I wish I found this!” before starting my last project.
Looks great. What do you do to finish the job? Do you sand after ever has hardened, and if so, what is the technique?
Listen to this man! He speaks truth!
💚💙
Need to be wearing a mask and googles. Just because the fumes don't bother you, doesn't mean it's not doing your body damage.
Thank you brother.... Pro 9:9
How did you get Darth Vader to be your cameraman, he ain't fooling nobody, we can hear him!
He had a severe sinus infection, so he does sound like Darth Vader.
I'm a big fan of wipe on products. I recoated 27 wood doors and frames this way came out great.
Do you sandpaper the table or just put Java gel over the table looking to do this on my kitchen cabinets
You always have to sand anything before you stain or prime. I usually sand with a 180-grit sandpaper, vacuum all the fine dust, wipe down, and use a wood container.
It’s a pleasure watching you work, with so much good advice !
Thank you for your kind words
How much for my table?
This is an awesome tutorial
