I was cruising on QM 2 (to Norway) in August, it was our first cruise, and I agree it wasn't a luxury experience at all. (Even having been upgraded from Britannia to Britannia Club.) The waiters were especially not people I would employ on a ship which advertises luxurious service. And a woman at the Travel office was just being rude. But it wasn't luxury what we were looking for anyway, and we fell in love with the ship nonetheless, and already booked our next cruise on it. :)

People sometimes feel personally attacked when others criticize or disagree with something they love because they tie their identity or emotions to that thing. It can feel like an attack on their personal values or beliefs, even when it's not meant that way. However, as you mentioned, it’s important to remember that differing opinions aren't personal attacks. It's a reflection of diverse experiences and perspectives, and acknowledging that can lead to more constructive and respectful discussions. Your appreciation of honest and true content, even if it differs from popular opinion, shows that you value authenticity. It’s encouraging when creators are supported for being genuine rather than just saying what others want to hear.

It sounds like you have had a pretty crappy experience on Cunard… The QM2 was going to be our first sailing back in 2020; however it was canned due to Covid. Since then we have sailed on Royal Caribbean and others - 14 times and am so pleased that we did not get sucked in to the ‘Cunard is the only and Best’ mentality like so many other folks… Our next transatlantic is from Barcelona back to Miami in November on the lovely Explorer of the Seas, where we always feel like we are being treated like rockstars… Thank you for sharing another great video 😊

I am sorry that you basically had a bad experience on Cunard's QM2. I have sailed on the ship more than 10 times and really enjoyed transatlantic crossings. There was one exception. During the last crossing in May...I felt the ship had been stripped of many experienced staff sent to work on the new Queen Ann. I found some serving staff replacing in the Britannia Dinning Room were not experienced. That was everything else was wonderful...Would I would continue sailing with Queen Mary 2- absolutely. Cheers

I've seen your ace videos on this crossing and have really appreciated the non-flashy style which is the opposite of almost pretentious pseudo poshness of the QM2. Style, no substance, possibly due to cutbacks etc. The one element you loved most was (almost) free. The company of your fellow passengers (hello Ian!) and the views. Ok, the views weren't free. But what your videos have done is to demystify, unvarnish the romance of quite a long, repetitive traveling experience. I'm looking forward to seeing your future videos, thanks ladies ❤

Bored? I've taken 4 transatlantics on the QM2 and was never once bored :-) As a matter of fact at the end of each crossing I wish it was at least 10 days more. I suppose it comes down to what you are looking for. For me? I want to read, relax, swim, hot tub, sleep, eat and rinse and repeat. I am not of fan of "cruise ships" but I LOVE the laid back older crowd transatlantic aboard a beautiful ship with people who are fascinated by transatlantic crossings, history, learning lectures and things of that ilk. In those things a QM2 crossing cannot be beat. In all fairness if I was in my 20's or 30's I would not have enjoyed the QM2 as much as I do now as a 60 year old single female travelling alone. I LOVE everything about this ship but I can see that for you two a Virgin cruise or an adventure cruise you would be better suited for. I have already booked my next QM2 cruise which is a 31 day Fjord roundtrip from NY. I really want to do the 109 day world cruise someday. For informational purposes I always book sheltered balcony cabin which I love on this ship.

You won't get high class entertainment or high-class food and add-ons unless you book Queens Grill. Was this the 6th July crossing. Most folk on QM2 forums travelling then haven't reported problems. Open dining is sometimes a problem. With fixed you get same waiters/sommelier each night and it can help getting food issues sorted. We'd just have ordered the beef and that chocolate/ice cream dessert, and a good Bordeaux for the beef. If we only had a big glass each they'd keep the remainder for another night and we'd switch back to cheap stuff. If the two dishes weren't enough you just ask for extras or maybe have the cheese before or after the dessert. We don't do karaoke but it's probably better when the venue is busier, hecklers would probably get shut down by the folk around them. I didn't hear much of the song but didn't sound like we'd have danced to it! Besides you need to stand on the stage and leave the floor free. I certainly hope things improved for you as the week went on.

@rebeccaswk In social dancing it's always been perfectly normal for two females to dance together providing one can take the leading part. They don't need to be a couple. In discos women always danced together if they liked the music. In more recent times there are more and more men dancing together. The source of Argentine Tango is alleged to have been men dancing together. We had a US resident German couple travelling New York to Hamburg. They were very good dancers. On gala night they appeared dressed in matching slate grey tux suits. They weren't considerate to others though, charging across the floor with folk scattering to get out their way. I've seen other male couples in videos from Cunard ships.

The sounds you were hearing in the morning came from 2 different tools that I'm well acquainted with. You can hear a needle gun and chipping hammer. These are used for paint removal and depending on what they are working on can be heard for several decks. 7AM is unacceptable unless this was emergency work.

This was a very good walk around. What I found strange was the lack of people out and about at 11AM. It looked like you had the ship all to yourselves. We were booked for an and of April 2021 crossing in Queens Grill but it got canceled. It was to cost $12,000 including return air. for 2. My rational was that it was the cost of 2 RT business class tickets to London but we got 7 nights on a very nice ship. If you every get out to LA you should spend a few nights on the original Queen Mary in Long Beach.

This made me think about the time we were last there. I can't believe it has been 13 years. We were heading over the mountain for a motoring club rally at the Tail of the Dragon and spent a few days here. I think because they are in a valley Gatlinburg has not expanded as much at PF. Cheers

That route 81 is one of the most boring drives in the east. Many of folks have fallen asleep on that drive. I'm happy to see people visiting and really getting to know the country by road. Most Brits just fly into Orlando and then go home. We have taken a self drive in England and really got a feel for the country and the people. Pigeon Forge has really exploded since I was last there.

A little trick we just learned on Norwegian (🤮) inside room: Separate the beds. The room gets dramatically larger. It still ain't a suite, but it's not as claustrophobic as a twin bed inside cabin. Enjoy.
