William Daniels & Bonnie Bartlett interview about St. Elsewhere, filming on location in Philadelphia for 1986 season opener. Aired on Evening Magazine, WBZ, Channel 4, Boston, 9/24/86.
Those two are so cute. Real-life couples don’t always have onscreen chemistry, but these two have chemistry to spare.
I love the reference they snuck in.
That horn at 1:07s was pretty slick.
Always be Mr Feeny to me ❤️.. & Mrs Nadine
William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett are such a lovely couple.
Love this scene! I love how Mark(William) sings and then tells Ellen(Bonnie) "now never say I never sang for you" seems very much like William would say to Bonnie. I know from interviews she saids he always makes her laugh and I can see why watching this. I just love these two and how great they are together! The chemistry and just overall love they have is wonderful
I loved St Elsewhere. I wish there where more episodes
DR George Mark Feeny !
FEENY! FEEENY!
2:28- In this 1986 interview, Miss Bartlett (jokingly?) said it was harder for her and Mr. Daniels to live together than to work together- having been married at that point 35 years. Well, as of 2022, they've been married 71 years(!) and, in current interviews, they seem more in synch with each other so I imagine that it's become easier for them to be living together.
i knew bonnie always had a thing for KITT 🤣
Lol
Feeneh! Feeeheeheeheeeeneh! FEENEE
Feenie: YOU ARE NOT CALLING A DUCK.
Charming!
My favorite scene ever in the series. I am a huge fan of 1776, it is my favorite movie. The 1st time I saw it I would break out laughing at seveal points knowing the inside joke.
Had the honor of having Bonnie Bartlett do a reading of a play of mine. Daniels was there. When he complimented me, afterwards, I was speechless. A few months later I was in Santa Barbara and Bonnie invited me to stay in their guest house. On Sunday morning I went out for coffee with Daniels. Again...I was speechless. He read the paper and I drank my coffee...in silence. 🙂
Wow.. how long ago was that?
They're such a neat couple!!
If only he had line to say Michael...
Now days you can't get near Independence Hall without going through long Homeland Security Lines and area's roped off. Thanks you, 9/11.
The Hulu stream of this episode cut the singing :( I came back here to confirm I didn't remember this wrong!
I searched for this for the same reason. I’m grateful for the Hulu collection, but they make some brutal edits.
Wonder if it would have involved having to pay royalties for the 1776 musical quotation
Thanks for the upload !! These two are married in real life.. XD
There is only ONE John Adams! William Daniels you will always have a special place in my heart. I saw 1776 at Radio City Music Hall in 1972. It's 2021 and I still have tears in my eyes when I watch this movie. "Does anybody see what I see". Yes! Mr. Adams! I do!
Both Mr. and Mrs. Daniels seem to be on the verge of breaking out into hysterical laughter throughout this scene. I wonder how many takes it took to get it right? It was so out of character for Dr. Craig to be so happy and jovial like he was here. I always thought this scene was genuine William and Bonnie Daniels rather than Mark and Ellen Craig, and it is fantastic.
And of course he was filming this whilst also recording the voice of KITT. Daniels will always be KITT to me
This episode of St.Elsewhere was about the only time we watched it because of the two of them being at Independence Hall. We had heard so much about it that we just had to watch it. I never realized that I could find this big clip here on RUclips!
What's incredible is that he's almost 60 here and could easily pass for his 40's!
Can you believe Daniels was 8 years older than Ed Flanders who played Westphall? I would have believed the other way around.
Knight rider
Mr Feeney!
No KITT ;)
Would you believe they have now been married for 67 years as of 2018?
What I find amazing is how he was born in 1927 meaning in 1986 he was 59, and looked a hell of a lot younger than that!
and like their characters at that time had also been married for 35 years
One scene I wish someone would post from St Elsewhere is the scene where Mrs. Craig goes down to the morgue to inform the odd girl who works in the morage and has a crush on Dr. Craig about his many picadillos. Bonnie Bartlet did this fantastically. It's hilarious.
I never saw this episode but this clip is terrific. Every 4th of July I watch "1776" on TCM.
He was great in 1776.
kitt has a wife it could be a camaro.
That would kind of make them cousins. For that time period, a Mustang is more suited.
I loved this scene when it first aired. I doubt many people got the reference to 1776 at the time.
" I don't know what you saw in me . I was abknocious [ or however you spell it ] and disliked . " Omg ! Just like John Adams .
OMG he sounds like kitt
+daniel ferstendig That's because HE IS indeed the voice of Kitt !!!(William Daniels)
No! He sounds like "JOHN ADAMS"! ;-D
What's up with Dr. Craig's wrist?
At the end of season 4, he severed some of his nerves after punching glass. He was in Philadelphia to figure out options on how to repair his hand.
@@DefLeppardVanHalen And save his career!
@@DefLeppardVanHalen The irony being that in Season 1 he screams at Ehrlich for injuring his wrist in a handball game and lectures him about how surgeons can't suffer hand injuries under any circumstances. And then a few years later he punches out a mirror and nearly ends his own career as a result.
@@DefLeppardVanHalenwhy did he punch glass.
He was upset that he had not won some award. He regained his ability to operate in time to save Fiscus's life after Wayne was shot.
Just rewatched 1776 (probably for the 10th time!) and then I found this! It makes me so happy!
We love 1776 but never saw St. Elsewhere! Very clever scene!
LOL! "It's hot as hell in Philadelphia!!!" Mr. Feenie is epic.
That's William Daniels.
@@MsTruNorth he played a character called mr feenie in the 90s boy meets world
Thank for posting. I really wanted to see this scene.
I had heard about this and was thrilled at the prospect of it. Years later I finally think, "Hey! How about RUclips?" Thanks for sharing this! Only four more days until my annual viewing of 1776!!
I'll second the first poster! I love 1776... it was great to see these inside jokes. I missed this the first time around!
