I watched this with my father when it first aired in 2000. I was 9. This style of television (entertainment, overall), became a standard for me since. Cartoons and violent shows weren’t for me. It was more reality and how to learn from it. Between this miniseries and The Wire❤🙌🏾

This is so sad! I saw this when it first came out and I will never forget what the man said about your first high. "Get high for the first time, it's the best feeling. Everytime you get high you're chasing that feeling." I have several family members that go through this. It is awful for the people that are addicted and the family members that care for them.

I cried when this show used to come on. I was a little kid back then and though I didn’t fully understand the concept of what was going on, I empathized. My sentiments hasn’t changed, but more understanding that addiction can happen to anyone at any time and the battle to overcome is not to be overlooked. Condolences to anyone who lost a loved one due to addiction. ❤ And let’s celebrate those who overcame the battle.

This was awesome and the music took me back down memory lane. I knew so many people that OD, were murdered and so many families that was torn apart from drugs. Things have not gotten any better in 2024.

Gary’s flashbacks while high kill me. The essence of addiction…searching for a feeling you’ll never feel again or be satisfied with. Chasing the devil who is the origin of deception. This is beautifully written.

Yo never forget DeAndre ended become an actor. If you watched the Wire you can see him. He plays Brother Mouson's (my spelling is in correct) bodyguard when they were looking for Omar in Season 3 i believe. RIP to DeAndre.
