The most disrespectful surfers are not the real locals (the people who have been surfing there for years), but many of the tourists , of the foreigners living recently in Ericeira who think they are already entitled to behave like "locals" , and also many surf schools (and their customers) who behave with a mob mentality, without any sense of what surfing really is - an individual pursuit, not a herd movement. Unfortunately , the numbers of these people are increasing, not only in Ericeira but all over Portugal, harming the surfing experience for everyone, specially for the locals who many times , understandably, lose their patience and coolness.

This is the worst thing about the sport. Ericeira is crazy, there are guys who surf there everyday and still have to go on all the waves, it's like they think they are more entitled to ride those waves than any other human being. Everyday theres more and more stupid and disrespectful people in the line ups of Portugal. People suck
