Aldo Kane 3 Peaks Challenge

I was looking for a UK based challenge to kick start me back into Expedition mode after a few weeks off. I decided to have a go at the 3 peaks challenge but with a difference.
In the UK, the 3 peaks challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in less than 24 hours.
I decided to combine my two big passions, mountains & motorbikes. The plan, to climb Ben Nevis, ride my BMW GSA 850 to Scafell Pike in the Lake District. Run up and down that then ride down to Wales and run up and down Snowdon, all in less than 24 hrs. Have to say, it was tougher than I anticipated!

Its was the third time I had been inside Nyiragongo Volcano and the first time I was able to get down to Tier 3 (P3). The route down from Tier 2, through the boulder field and then the further 70 m abseil were not pleasant : )

During filming for #Trailblazers, several times we had to make our way high up onto the Volcanoes flanks to collect samples, do scientific tests and film explosive eruptions. Each time it erupted, hundreds of tons of rocks and lava bombs smashed down the slopes. One of the most hostile environments ever for a crew and Scientists to work in. #VerticalPlanet
