Making my Big Brother’s Harley Davidson Tshirt Quilt
After quite a bit of consideration, my brother decided to give up some of his favourite Harley Davidson T-shirts in order to make him a quilt that he could display at home. He has visited almost all of these places, and these were shirts that he has had a huge connection with. I hope that he gets many years enjoyment out of this. Happy birthday Randy.

This was a live stream I did for the Couch Tour from the concert in Toronto. My friends and I were on the rail and we had the most amazing time. I only did the first hour of the show as I had not been at a concert for some time and just wanted to enjoy the night. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did Live.

How To Build A LongArm Overhead Lighting System
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.2 года назад
Rather than paying hundreds of dollars for a commercial lighting system to extend over my longarm, I decided to create my own system. This system is constructed from 2 inch vacuum PVC piping and LED shop lights, and cost me about $150 in total. It provides excellent lighting over my longarm quilt projects and is just as good as any special purpose commercial lighting system. The parts lists inc...
Dave Matthews Band (DMB) Embroidered Quilt - April 2022
Просмотров 1822 года назад
I was asked to create a special embroidered quilt of favourite songs and images from the Dave Matthews Band. These are all images I have digitized myself and perfected over the past few years. The center block is always reserved for their favourite song, in this case it is The Stone. The blocks are embroidered on denim, cut to size, serged to prevent fraying, sashing and borders are added, then...
Special Birthday Gift - Simply Serene - Quilt On Point
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.2 года назад
This is a pattern called Simply Serene. I made this quilt for my very good friend, former coworker, motorcycle riding, adventure taking, coffee drinking friend, Manon. I used a palette of greys, off white, and peacock blues consisting of batiks, 3 Moda ‘Boudoire’ Charm packs, and Northcott canvas. The backing is deep ocean Fireside. I couldn’t be happier with this quilt and how it came out.

This has been a year-long project. I moved from a 10 x 10 room into the basement. I didn’t really want to come down here at first. But I’m really glad I did. This is turned into an amazing workspace completely designed and built by my husband, Peter. He has become the researcher, IKEA assembly person, and Handi Quilter builder extraordinaire. I look forward to getting down here each day to c...
Stephanie & Daniel’s Wedding Quilt
Просмотров 3593 года назад
This quilt was created, pieced, sewn and quilted for my niece Stephanie and her new husband Daniel. Every stitch was done with love. I chose the colours for their new home. Greys and blacks with just some subtle blues. Quilting was done in a light turquoise colour. The top is made with Batik fabrics, there is Heirloom 80/20 cotton batting, and a marbled grey cotton backing. The binding sewn by ...
Making Carol Romer’s DMB Quilt
Просмотров 733 года назад
Making a DMB Embroidered Quilt takes approximately 75 hours of embroidery, a few hours sandwiching and pinning the top together, approximately 25 hours sewing and quilting, and another 10 hours for binding and labels. They are all denim blocks, top quality quilting cotton, and a double layer of heirloom batting. These are a labour of love. Each one I have made is personal and unique. No two hav...

Was curious if you sale any of your creations?
My machine brand starts with a g. I made my own with a length of cheap fabric and four straps of the same fabric. Less the $5 and works great.
Hello Lori, my husband and I are interested in constructing a frame such as yours! Did you and/or your husband draw out a design for the frame! If so, we would love to have a copy if you are willing to share! The video is great! We have both watched it many times and we are using the provided list to find the various pieces!! Thank you!! Melodi
I am so sorry but we did not have plans or drawings. We just used the supplies I listed in the video. It could vary on height and the width depending on your area or machine.
Thank you Lori! It is a marvelous set up! 😎
Do you sell your pattern?
No I am sorry, I am not selling this pattern.
Could you tell me the wattage or lumens of the lights you used and are they bright enough,? I have pretty low vision so I need bright lights. Thank you.
They are 3 light bars I obtained from Costco in Canada. Similar ones can be found at Harbour Freight in the US. They join together and all Come on at once. Each light is 4600 lumens (13,800 total), compared to Handi Quilter lights at 1150 per two foot section. I like alot of light and this provides it perfectly. I actually use them when I am just working in my sewing room also. It provides alot of Light in my basement.
❤❤❤
Very nice job showing your design wall. Is this by chance the Prop-it Design Wall brand? MSQC has some other items from this company but I haven’t been able to find it. Julia in TX
It was a flannel style quilt wall from MSQC. I got it during an after Christmas sale a few years back. It is just the fabric 72”x72”, no backing or board. I wrapped it on the styrofoam sheets from Home Depot. I think the sku is NOT2021 It was about $35 but the sale was 50% off.
Love your light ..headed out to get supplies to make mine .thank you for sharing.
This is perfect, just what I need. Great job.
What size PVC piping did you use, width of pipe?
I used 2 inch vacuum PVC pipe. I have listed all the supplies I used in the details as well, in case you need more info.
Brilliant!
So awesome! I LOVE this! Thank you Lori!
We just finished making this lighting system. Thank you! It makes a huge difference! It cost us about $225.00 total. Thank you so much for sharing it!❤
So glad that it helped. Any extra ideas to save some money makes sense these days. Have fun quilting!!!
Beautiful quilt!! I love this pattern, can't wait to make 3 of them for Christmas this year :)
Thank you! I made a california king of this one just a few months ago. Almost identical. It is a really nice quilt to assemble.
This is a beautiful quilt and love the color choices.
Hey there. I love this quilt and so does my boyfriend. We saw it in a store window in Kentucky. I would like to make it for him and have purchased the pattern and fabric. I am new to quilting and a bit intimidated by the project. I found your video today by a very happy accident. Would you consider filming an in depth tutorial?
Absolutely love your craft/sewing room! Especially your under-longarm cabinets. I'm going to Ikea and see what I can find for my space. Thank you so much!
Nice job and I am going to build one for my wife that just purchased a Handi Q longarm Did you find that you had to move the light forward or backward when quilting?
We set it up, so it is movable. But I never move it. I thought was putting the casters on the Longarm. I would be moving at more but I haven’t moved it since I installed everything.
This is beautiful! I love it.💖
Very nice
Такое лицо приятное у мастера! Учите нас, вдохновляйте! Спасибо!
This looks sooo good. I struggle with getting the triangle points to align. These are perfect. Well done!
He really concentrated. And he used pins. I am super proud of him.
can you share pattern?
There was no real set pattern. I just showed him how to make half square triangles. They were 5”. Once cut apart, he squared them up and he placed them out the way he liked and sewed them together. He like the pinwheel design. Once together, I assisted with getting it set up on the longarm. Picked a pattern and quilted, then trimmed. The binding was added on the machine and hand stitched with a blind stitch.
Nice work my friend New friend here I subscribed to your channel
Thank you so much.
Love the colors, I'm making this for my nephew who is getting married in April. He and his fiance picked the colors.
They will love it!! I do love the pattern. I will be making this one again soon. Just waiting on more fabric. 😁
Great job…
This is awesome. I have just bought my first long arm today and will need lighting for it! Thank you so much!
That’s great! Congratulations. I hope the few ideas help with something affordable for your room. I can’t live without mine.
He’s a pro his seams all matched up perfectly😃
Better than mine sometimes. I showed him how to line it up once and use some pins and he was off to the races.
That’s wonderful tell him to keep on quilting 😃.
OMG!!! Lori!! You're on RUclips!! I LoVE this!!!!!
Very nice!
Looks great!
It was his first time sewing. I’m thrilled that he even attempted it. He says that if he has to fix and occasionally clean the machines, he should know how they work as well. Kudos for that. Proudly displayed.
Thanks for sharing how you made your light… hubby is about to make one for me. Wondering if you can share what brand of white slap bracelets you purchased on Amazon… lots to choose from with varying reviews. (Fellow Canadian here.)
I just went back in my order history, they are no longer available. They were a 12 pack. I ordered black and white. The white I use on my light assembly and my longarm leaders. And the black I use on my embroidery stabilizers. Says they were $13 for the pack in the receipt but it comes up as something else now. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m sure they are all pretty standard.
They should be the 8.5” x 1” bracelets.
Thank you for this video. I needed a visual to be able to set it up!
You are most welcome. Glad it helped.
why don't you drill a couple of holes in the PVC at the end with the power cord and put the cords inside the pipe instead of that velcro/slap strap thing? Just an idea...also seems to me that you could suspend the entire thing from the ceiling and get rid of the vertical supports, assuming it's not too heavy. I think I'm going to give that a try - I just LOVE the remote control system and love the shop lights. Thank you!
This works for me. It is just a suggestion and some hints on how to assemble one. I didn’t want to drill it or add hooks to the ceiling as I have my frame on casters and it can be moved easily, so I can also move my lighting stand if needed. I hope that it helps even a bit with your new set up.
I am wondering if this will work on my Momentum Frame
I am not sure. I’m not an educator. I just knew that there was some confusion as to how it was connected. I made this for a reference. This is the only frame I have and I’m not sure how it would fit on other frames.
Ty
You’re most welcome
It's a very nice wall.Thank you for the directions. What type of fabric did you use to cover it - just white cotton? Also in the written directions you say you used nails to keep the fabric taut, is that because you made a frame with the foam board or is the whole back all foam board.
Thank you. In the video it shows how I used each part of the supplies. I did not make a frame. The fabric is like flannel, actually a design wall fabric from Missouri Star Quilt Co. The nails have a cover on the so they don’t go through the fabric and only used on the back to pull the fabric tight. The video shows how I pulled the fabric and attached with the nails. If after you watch the video you have some questions please feel free to reach out. Thanks again, Lori
I only need 8 ft so hope wont need to secure to ceiling. .using g 2 -4 ft lights from harbor freight.
You should be good. I love my lighting system.
THIS is the MOST incredible piece of DMB customwork I have ever seen!! Every block is a song reference or SOMEthing DMB related. Absolutely amazed! How much would something like this cost?
Thank you so very much. I love working with my DMB friends to create their unique and personalized quilt. I will finally get to meet this lady in person in a few weeks. Her special block was The Stone
It's just so perfect. The entry, the music, the blessing of starting such a momentous weekend.
Wow, love the way you put those colors together. beautiful quilt. Great Job
Thank you. I really enjoyed making this for my long time, very good friend
Beautiful quilt and sure enjoyed the music.
Thank you very much for posting, Your instructions were much more clear than the instructions that came with the hammock. I couldn't find any instruction videos on the Handi Quilter site at all. I'm still not sure about the back bolt since I, like Susan Mei below have the Studio 2 frame. Maybe she will share pictures of where she finally attach her back hammock loops. Shame on Handi Quilter for not having videos or at least better written instructions for these "simple" accessories. Thank you Lori.
You are most welcome. If I get any other pictures of the Studio 2 frame I will add them.
Great idea ..aluminium back will keep moisture out off wall and nails will keep it in place . Thanks for sharing.
Helpful. Prefer this to reading instructions alone. 🤙🏽
Glad I could offer some help.
What about on the Studio frame? The diagrams in the kit are not clear and the back bolt goes in a different place than what you showed. Any ideas? Not sure what your situation is. Thx.
@@susanmei9980 I have never had the studio frame. I’m sorry I can’t assist with that one. But you are right, the directions can be a little difficult to understand.
@@lorilepine5857 Thanks for responding. I made it work. I looped the back bungees over the side of the frame, like they said to do if you had the front wheel. And put the front ones where they were supposed to be. I can’t believe they don’t have a video on this, especially with such vague instructions. Yours is the only video I found on this. TFS. 🌷
Nice design wall. Thank you for the video 😊👍💕
Thank you
This looks amazing.
Thank you kindly
I fashioned my design wall from the pink insulation board. I covered it in batting...but I will recover it in flannel. It is hard to clean the threads off of batting.. Mine is 96 x 96 and it is in a server rack which holds the base. I can move it around. It leans against the wall, and the rack keeps it in one place--sot it is both sturdy and moveable. I love my wall. I now baste my quilt on it, which eases that dreaded task. Thanks for sharing your wall.
🧖
Thank you for showing the materials you used & how exactly you did that. I'm redoing my quilt room & will keep that idea in mind! Thank you for sharing! Good job!!
You are most welcome.
