Having fun reviving and driving old Mopars. Follow along as we work on our projects. 1967 Dodge D100 that will be powered by 414 small block Mopar stroker with ported speedmaster heads. 1970 Plymouth Satellite 4 door with 3g Hemi stroker power. 1971 Plymouth Valiant 4 door with 360. 1985 Dodge D100 with 360 Magnum and R/T heads. 1988 Dodge D100 with stock 318, that we will be doing a 360 build up for. We do our own machine work here in our home shop, and will show bits of that too, along with tips we have learned along the way. And, mostly having a good time!!!!

A very happy occasion for the CCR family as our oldest of 3 sons got married to a wonderful girl last weekend. They escaped in their 1971 4 door Plymouth Valiant. It is rough around the edges, but has been in our family since all 3 sons were in car seats. It is now powered by an 11.2:1 360 with ported Edelbrock heads a wieand x-celerator intake, Dougs Headers, and roller cam.

Finishing the tubing process on the 340 Mopar block for solid roller cam. This blocks off oil to the lifters and increases oiling to the main bearings. Motor will be a 414" stroker. 1

414 Stroker Build Part 3: Block Oiling Mods/Drilling for Tubes #NoNameNationals
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.2 года назад
Drilling our 1970 Mopar 340 block to accept tubes for blocking off oil to the solid roller lifters. This increases oiling to the Main bearings and was recommended in the old DC and MP engine manuals. This motor is going into our 1967 Dodge D100 Sweptline.

A quick overview of the oil mods we are doing to the 340 block for running a solid roller cam. This is a cheaper alternative to bushing the lifter bores, and was recommended in the old Direct Connection and Mopar Performance Engine Manuals.

CC-ing Cylinder Heads With a Scale???
Need some Mickey E.T streets on there, Sam. 😂😂😂😂
Yeah, for sure!
That’ll be a handful on any surface!
I am going to be needing some traction advice.
Sounds mean!!! I like it!!!😎👍
Thanks!
That's some instant RPM's !!!!! Congrats !!!!
Thanks Tim!
Fun 😎
Yes Sir. Thanks for watching!
That's the Real Deal Sam! Sounds Great. Crisp, Clean, Loud and The Real Deal!! Big Steam!
Thanks Ed! I really need some traction. It is a bit stronger than the 318 2bbl was.
Hope to see your hard work in action at the 3rd Annual NO NAME NATIONALS in a couple of weeks!! RB
Unfortunately I may not be able to make it. I will if possible. I had a blast last year!
Sounds great. It is alive. Congratulations Sam.👍🇺🇸👍 I missed the video.
Thanks Ed, it is running better now after a little tuning. Traction is gonna be a problem.
@@CCR414 Good to hear from you Sam. Where did you move to? Got your shop set up?
@@edsmachine93 Wayne county IL. I have the shop built, and most of the machines moved in.
@@CCR414 Very Nice.👍
Nice
Zoom Zoom!
Super cool!
Thanks John!
I remember that predator carb.. lol
We'll see how it runs! I had a 750 DP, but it got lost during a move.
This is what we have been waiting for.
Thanks! Me too!
Well that predator did not come from HFT!! 😂😂😂
I got it CHEAP, thought I'd give it a try. My wife asked "What is that box thing"
Snappy! That aint no thermoquad
You need to come up and drive it! I should have it on the road soon.
@@CCR414 I can't wait!
Looking good Sam.
Thanks, hope it runs decent. Still lots to do.
Say it isn't so !!!!!!!!! 😎
Finally, some progress.
@@CCR414 I'm excited! Waiting now for the "1st test drive" video!

What style of anchor did you use ? They dont seem to have much of a ledge at the bottom of the cylinder to grab.
One like this: beamequipment.store/portable-boring-bar-anchor-assembly/
cool tool!
Just a Patch to cover up a supply problem not sorted out in the pump / filter/ supply bore/drain back/shallow pan slosh system.....
Be much better on a radial arm drill....
This is only needed when the oil bypass groove is exposed on either or both sides of the oil channel from unusually high lift or improper bypass groove width or placement.....
I don’t understand the point of tubing?? Is there a pressure loss if running rollers??
Some roller lifters have an oil band that is uncovered causing an oil pressure loss. I did this block to increase oil supply to the rods and mains. 16 leaks that are now gone. Thanks for watching.
@@CCR414 ok. Thanks. I was aware of the tubes but no one ever explained exactly why. We run a B with a roller but have no pressure issues. We oil the shaft rockers and run through the pushrods too.
@@CCR414 got it. I remember in the OLD dc manuals they put small holes in the tubes depending on lifters but never explained why other than roller lifters. We just did a B with a roller and are oiling the shafts normally and the rockers throw the pushrods with no issues on the dyno but it was hydraulic.
I can't wait!!
But I caught him by the end ....... 🤣🤣
I have never seen “tubing” done before. Still not quite sure of the whole purpose of it. I normally would see folks use plugs with small holes drilled in them to restrict oil flow.
I'm faced with possibly having to do this? How do the lifters get lube? Is this Necessary if you run a hydraulic roller? Thanks for your help!
If you run any type of hyd lifters, you would have to drill holes in the tubes. Solid lifters get plenty of splash oil.
Yes sir!
Drilled for w2 intake pattern
Yes.
💪🏼
It works!
Thanks! My laptop went down, and I'm not buying another one until my shop is finished. Priorities...
I saw an engine masters episdoe where steve dulcich did this mod on a set of heads. Fryburger and the other dude were doubting how much gain this would give him but the results on the dyno didnt lie! This really added some power !
Great video. Probably a stupid question, but how are the lifter bores and lifter-cam lobe interface oiled now?
Splash oil from the rods .thanks for watching.
Yah, good point….I wouldn’t do that. That’s some back yard BS….
So is that just a 20 over 4 inch stroke 340?
Yes Sir. 4.06 bore, 4.00 stroke.
@@CCR414 Nice!! I love your channel man…Im new to RUclips looking forward to see the rest of your build!
How deep is safe before you hit water on the chrysler heads?
I am excited to see the stroker run. Good luck. Take care, Ed.
Just need to drop it in , hopefully soon. Thanks Ed.
Welcome back. Good to see you back again. Take care, Ed.
Beauty!
Saweet 👍
Looking forward to some results! Watched/followed the head porting and 414 stroker build with excitement!
Thanks! Anxious here too. I hope to get some time to get back on it soon.
The W2 rocker shaft hold downs are made for long valves and valve springs. I wanted to use standard length valves in the W2 heads, so I rotated the W2 rocker hold downs 90 degrees and machined them for the hold down bolts. I kept the 45 degree angled corners of the rocker pedestals in the original position, which required turning them around after rotating them.
Do you check to see how much clearance you have. It’s a good idea to have twice the thickness of the bearing shell.
Hope to see you at the NNN!
Love that thing. Van looks mighty good as well
