When I was nine, I was learning to play the baritone and had all the ISB records. My father, who was the General Secretary for the North and South Carolina division, hosted the ISB when they came to Charlotte on their USA tour. He met them at the airport and told Derick Kane how I idolized him and was eager to meet him. That evening, as my family and I waited to take the ISB to dinner before their concert, I stood in awe as the band members stepped off the bus. When Derick Kane came down the steps, he stopped, looked at me, and exclaimed, “Wait, are you Mike Anderson, the famous baritone player in the Charlotte Temple Youth Band?” I was stunned that he even knew my name! He introduced me to Stephen Cobb who was the soloist at the time and he was in on the little inspiration moment too. Needless to say I was in heaven.! It was a moment I'll never forget-a moment when two great musicians took the time to inspire a 9-year-old kid. It was this experience that encouraged me to pursue music seriously. Though I play the trombone now, I'll always remember how Derick Kane inspired me to major in music and become a proficient brass player. That night, I proudly told everyone that Stephen and Derick knew me! Thank you, Derick, for being the inspiration I needed in music.

I would really appreciate a link to purchase the score and parts for this. It's well arranged, and my band could do it justice. Thank you for sharing your gifts!!

No doubt the band were thrilled to accompany Derick. A lovely arrangement of what is actually a secular song but with a real spiritual aspect.

This piece/song is written by the Norwegian Rolf Løvland. The lyricks are so great. It's not from the start, a "christian song." The composer says, it's up to each and one who "you" are. By the way, the composer has worked in SA's own recording studio in Oslo. The composer have won Europian Song Contest a couple of times, for Norway
