Susan Abigail Sarandon is an American actor. She is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to nominations for a Daytime Emmy Award, six Primetime Emmy Awards, and nine Golden Globe Awards. In 2002, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sarandon made her film debut in Joe and followed up with stints on the soap operas A World Apart and Search for Tomorrow. She gained prominence for her role as Janet Weiss in the cult classic musical comedy horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sarandon went on to receive the Academy Award for Best Actress for Dead Man Walking. Her other Oscar-nominated roles were in Atlantic City, Thelma & Louise, Lorenzo's Oil, and The Client. Her other notable films include Pretty Baby, The Hunger, The Witches of Eastwick, Bull Durham, Little Women, Stepmom, Enchanted, Speed Racer, The Lovely Bones, Cloud Atlas, The Meddler and Blue Beetle.
