Granted, these are pretty inefficient unloading cranes too, nothing like a Hullett or something, kinda surprised this place didn't have some set up if they were regularly servicing ships that didn't have built-in unloaders.

I can't believe I've never seen this before. There is a lot of famailar terrirory in this video. What a treat for the Shelpler and Arnold ferry passengers to get up close and personal with ole #1.
I miss those days when i worked up at Mackinaw City and go over to the island from time to time and get to be that close to these espically when they come up close to the island. and when we go out on the lighthouse cruise and see them espcically when we got to be close to the USCGC Mackinaw

You would think they would retrofit these ships to self unload, how long does it take with the drag bucket?
The design affects the self-unloader installment, with bucket it takes 16-18 hours

Why is there water spraying on the deck for?
Keeps the hull from expanding and bending in the heat.
Keeps it from hogging and sagging, which can decrease capacity and damage the ship
I heard that some of the crew refused to handle those paper towels. Yes...there was mutiny on the Bounty!
