I was a fan of the "power" versions of this song and always stupidly resisted listening to this one until a couple days ago when, out of sheer boredom, I let this play through and really listened to it and all I can say is: I'm 70 years old and still a damn fool, so self-obsessed and such a skeptic...and all to my own harm. This was beautiful and mythic and...pleasing. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, as long as the old dog has RUclips, then anything's possible.

This is beautiful. Very haunting. When I first heard the Disney version covered by Pan!c at the Disco, I thought the melody line was a little odd and hard to feel the cohesion of. Then I heard the Idina version from the movies, and got a better feel for it. I can understand why they would modify this to be a little more simplistic and showy. Kids respond better to things that are simpler and heavier handed with more dynamics. I love that this exists at the same time though as a more mature, subtle, complex version that adults, or more reserved kids, can enjoy. Edit: I seem to be mistaken and she did not originally write this. Still I enjoy both versions regardless of which came first.
