    Were you having 24/7 air hunger ? How long does it usually take to correct chronic air hunger for years

      @@nem8685 great question yes I was having air hunger during all waking hours not when I was sleeping and I also had a companied panic attacks frequently over a six month period of time it wasn’t until I really leaned into wellness and eventually retraining, my breath that everything rebalanced, but this process took me about a year because I was doing it mostly by myself. I was trying so many different things to get to a really focused path that really just incorporate wellness and breathing sometimes it was two steps forward and one step back, but I’m happy to say that I have been air, hunger and panic attack. Free for several years now. Yay! what a journey lots of growth lots of healing. I definitely feel like it’s so helpful to have a partner who’s gone through it and someone like me who helps others get through it. I like to say that I am the coach now to my clients that I need it then when I was suffering from air hunger. If you wanna connect, grab a discovery call we can chat. Air hunger is a clue to our body that something is out of balance. You have so much power within your own well-being and breath to rebalance your mind and body ! Does smoking contribute to this? I know...maybe a stupid question

    • @breathewellcoaching
      @breathewellcoaching 5 дней назад

      Not a stupid question...Smoking cigarettes and using marijuana can both contribute to air hunger and disordered breathing. For cigarettes: The chemicals in smoke irritate the airways and reduce lung function, leading to inflammation and breathlessness. Smokers often breathe faster to compensate, which can lower carbon dioxide levels and worsen feelings of suffocation. For marijuana: While it may initially expand airways, it can also irritate them, causing inflammation and mucus buildup. The psychoactive effects can trigger anxiety, leading to hyperventilation and further air hunger. Implications: Both substances can increase anxiety, limit physical activity, and raise healthcare costs due to respiratory issues.

      @@breathewellcoaching I appreciate ur response...I know u get a lot of comments and I'm not ur problem...I've smoked for over a decade...I'm 37, female...this past February..Feb 1-9 I quit. Then saw a neighbor smoking and I was stressed so I picked it up. End of February suddenly I felt I couldn't get a full inhale...and since then, every single day I have these symptoms: a constant pressure/ squeezing in my nose, nasopharynx and throat , never feeling like I can get a full breath and feeling like my tongue is too big /jaw feels out of wack. I went to the doctor for the first time in over a decade (I've been holistic despite my smoking habit) and they said nothing was wrong with me...bcuz I've smoked for so long and never had these issues, it's been difficult for me to attribute it to that. .but from ur opinion, as I don't trust docs AT ALL, could my symptoms simply be from smoking? Yes I know I need to quit...these symptoms have made my anxiety 1000x worse

    • @breathewellcoaching
      @breathewellcoaching 12 дней назад

      @@hannahmiller2056 great question! Personally, I’m not a fan of diets rather I help clients make better lifestyle choices when it comes to their nutrition. For anxiety, this is a list of things that can be helpful and are proven scientifically. First reduce caffeine intake and reduce or completely eliminate alcohol as well as any illicit drug. Next, increase hydration and if you’re active, consider adding an electrolyte mix. Next, limit processed foods and added sugars. Finally, look to increase these things: -Omega-3 fatty acids: Found in fatty fish (salmon, mackerel) to support brain health. -Magnesium: Leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains help relax the nervous system. -Complex carbs: Whole grains, oats, and quinoa stabilize blood sugar and mood. -Probiotics: Fermented foods (yogurt, kefir, kimchi) improve gut-brain health. -Antioxidants: Berries, dark chocolate, nuts fight oxidative stress. -Herbal teas: Chamomile and green tea reduce stress. -B Vitamins: Eggs, poultry, beans support neurotransmitter function. In my opinion, this is a more holistic approach to a balanced nutrition. It’s also more sustainable for long-term adherence. if you need more guidance, let’s connect on a discovery call. It took me over 6 months to learn this on my own without any help. Usually, I can help clients restore balance within 60 days, which is about 8 sessions or 2 months. However, it does take time to readjust once you learn to breathe more optimally.

    Did you know that your breath is directly connected to your brain and nervous system? 🧠✨ When you breathe, you’re not just taking in air-you’re sending signals to your brain that can either keep you stuck in stress and anxiety or help bring you back to calm and balance. How does it work?🤔 🌬️Breathing and Your Emotional State: Your breath and emotions are closely linked. That’s why we hold our breath watching a thrilling horror movie because we’re scared. Also, that’s why we take along calming exhale when we feel relaxed in a warm bubble bath listening to Norah Jones. For every human stress and anxiety changes our breathing- it tends to become shallow, rapid or irregular. This signals your brain that you’re in danger, keeping you in a state of fight-or-flight. This is a problem in chronic stress. 💡 The Science Behind It: Every inhale activates your sympathetic nervous system (your body’s gas pedal 🏎️), while every exhale engages your parasympathetic nervous system (your body’s brake 🛑). By consciously extending your exhale, you can calm your nervous system, reduce stress hormones, and shift into a state of relaxation. 🌈 Why Breathwork Matters: By practicing mindful breathing techniques, like box breathing, alternate nostril breathing or humming bee breath you can break the anxiety loop. Shifting to slower breathing rate sends a message to your brain that you are safe, which can help lower your heart rate, reduce muscle tension, and improve your overall emotional state. ✨ Ready to create a balanced, calm nervous system?✨ Start with a simple practice: inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 8 counts. Repeat this for a few minutes and notice the shift in your body and mind. If you want more guided breathing sessions check out my RUclips channel @ Breathe Well Coaching 💻 To claim a complimentary 30 minute coaching session comment “BREATHE” and I’ll get you on my schedule 🌱 Breathe Well, Move Well, Live Well -Coach E #Mindfulness #Breathwork #BrainScience #StressRelief #CalmMind #WellnessJourney #AnxietyRelief #BreatheEasy #MindfulLiving #NervousSystem #SelfCare #Somatic #Mindfulness #Health #Healing

      Great question! Activating Lower Abdominals: To activate the lower abdominals effectively, focus on exercises like pelvic tilts, reverse leg raises, bird dogs, dead bugs, bridges, bear crawl holds, and side planks are helpful to start connecting to the deeper core muscles. Pilates is often a great form of exercise to help build the transverse abdominis (TAs), which stabilizes the spine and pelvis. 360-Degree Breathing and Lower Abdominals: While 360-degree breathing primarily expands the rib cage and engages the diaphragm, it indirectly activates the lower abdominals by promoting core stability during breathing exercises. This is because the inhale creates intraabdominal pressure IAP and the exhale helps to strengthen the pelvic floor lower abs. Uneven Rib Cage Expansion: If you notice uneven expansion of your rib cage, practice diaphragmatic breathing to encourage balanced rib cage expansion. Incorporate stretches and exercises targeting the intercostal muscles. You may need a little guidance with this, so I am available if you need private coaching. These approaches can help improve lower abdominal activation and promote balanced breathing mechanics for overall core stability.

    thank you so much!! your videos and techniques are helping me with air hunger (pseudo-dyspnea) and although it is still there, it is much better than it was. you made me realise just how wrong i was breathing my entire life... you saying that you overcame air hunger is giving me hope! thanks again 💙

      You are so welcome. Thank you for taking the time to let me know. It sounds like you have been adopting a more optimal balanced breathing pace and pattern. Engaging in mindful relaxed breathing meditations using proper breathing mechanics makes a huge difference. I was breathing pretty awful when I was in the depths of panic attacks and major air hunger, I was holding my breath, taking big deep breaths, yawning and sighing…just very dysregulated. It was so consuming and the uncertainty of how to breathe well made me even more fearful (and alone). I remember going to several doctor's and practitioners trying to find answers but I couldn't get the help and support I needed. That's why I love educating, supporting, and coaching people in their journey. I'm to others the coach I so badly needed when I had delibitating breathing pattern disorder and anxiety. Keep anchoring to that hope, there was once a time you didn't have this disordered breathing symptom of air hunger and there will be a time you will be liberated through learning to breathe optimally and making any nessary lifestyles changes that support your well-being. If you ever need a little 1-on-1 session feel free to book a discovery call. calendly.com/breathewellcoaching/coaching-discovery-call Breathe Well! Coach E

    2:47 you can actually get PTSD from childbirth. it's not strange or inappropriate to compare the two, given that labor is one of the most painful experiences a human being can go through. but our culture really diminishes the suffering women go through, so we may falsely feel like such comparisons are inappropriate. i have PTSD due to emotional abuse and i have air hunger :) thanks for the video!

      Thank you for your comment. It has been a couple of years since I vulnerably shot this video, and I have learned a great deal since then through my own experiences and those of others with breathing pattern disorders. Regarding labor, I am now more unapologetically open about my experience. With time and healing, I see things more clearly. At the time and shortly after, I honestly had no idea what was happening to me. No doctors indicated that one could suffer from PTSD during or after childbirth. I also believe my experience was connected to sexual trauma I experienced as a teenager. I couldn't agree more with you that our culture downplays the challenges of labor. Even with my air hunger and panic attacks, it seemed like the doctors had no idea what I was going through. I truly empathize with anyone suffering from anxiety-related dysregulated breathing. Thank you again for your kind comment and insights. I think these types of videos help people suffering know they are not alone and that there can be healing as I no longer suffer from hyperventilation syndrome and air hunger. Sending you sweet vibes 🙏🏼😎❤️

    No need to pay for anything. Buteyko Breathing as covered in depth by patrick McKeown at Oxygen Advantage will give you all you need. It takes a while to connect the dots. Listen to lots of his videos, and practice the techniques. It is really counterintuitive. What she says here is spot on. DRs are clueless.

      I couldn’t agree with this more and yes, Patrick Mckeown is excellent. It really is counterintuitive, I agree and wow, it takes a long time to connect all the dots. I took several breathing certifications and watched countless videos myself. It sounds like you had a similar healing experience to me. Thanks for sharing and the kind encouragement.

      The safest route is to always contact your doctor or an urgent care center. I believe it’s very important to rule out any breathing related emergencies. After you understand what might be causing it, and if it’s anxiety related, then you can look at next steps. Some Doctors might be great at this too. That wasn’t exactly my experience, but there are more and more doctors aware of Breathing Patterns Disorders. Sending you positive thoughts and you move through this challenge.

    What are your thoughts on using a band, or something like the core 360 belt wrapped around your midsection to help with proprioception during breathing?

    • @breathewellcoaching
      @breathewellcoaching 4 месяца назад

      Great question! Using a belt or band as a tool is a good idea. I’m definitely in favor of it. It can help you get a “feel” for creating equal even pressure during inhalation, which helps generate intra-abdominal pressure. This pressure stabilizes the spine and core, allowing you to manage pressure safely and effectively. Such a tool can provide valuable biofeedback, helping you develop better breathing, less compensation patterns (like upper ab gripping) and overall respiratory efficiency. Love the idea!

      Also, Buteyko sometimes doesn’t work because re-training the biomechanics of breathing is a missed first step. The biomechanics of breathing refer to how the respiratory muscles, particularly the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, coordinate to facilitate efficient ventilation. Once this natural pattern is established, we can work on the pace and incorporate different techniques, such as breath holds, retention, and humming. However, if the activation of the respiratory diaphragm is skipped and the fundamental aspects of how you breathe are not addressed, some breathing exercises can exacerbate air hunger. In essence, diving into advanced techniques too soon can overwhelm the system. It's crucial to slow down, return to the basics, and master the fundamentals of optimal breathing mechanics. This approach helps unlearn sub-optimal habits and build a strong foundation for more advanced practices. Proper diaphragmatic activation is essential, as it ensures efficient gas exchange and reduces the risk of developing chronic hyperventilation or dysfunctional breathing patterns.

Started like 7 years ago but at that time only for a week, then it was good for like a year and then it was like a week again but it has getting worse and worse and now it feels like 24/7. Feels quite ok when i wake up in the morning but once a go up from bed it starts....
