    Refoam is sloppy, surround should be attached to the back of the cone.

    Currently refurbishing a set. I just bought a new house and much to my surprise the previous owners left a pair of these in the garage… subwoofer foam was disintegrating but I hooked them up today to my Nakamichi AV-8 to test them. New 15’s are enroute but they’re still functional. Refitting them with a pair of Goldwood 15” HD 8ohm woofers rated at 550 watts each. Should be a solid upgrade. My old Nakamichi just pounded them. 120 watts per channel.

    the Mach 2 and Mach 3 are the most underrated speakers on the market do to the fact they came from Radio Shack what most people didn't know back then and most still don't know now is that the mach 2 and 3 were designed and made by Altec Lansing for the Tandy Corporation if any of who are reading this owns either speaker change all the caps on the crossovers to poly caps and let the magic begin you will not believe your ears Now to test the integrity and sound quality of any speaker this is the track to do it with ruclips.net/video/4Sgz-UQfJKc/видео.html to fully enjoy your setup these are the 3 album's to do that with ruclips.net/video/_4tJ2iQPkY4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KTnVr1K3kjM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/OJHSL6-rYCU/видео.html sit back and enjoy the ride

    Consumer-grade quality sound, once you experience true Class A sound, you’ll scrap your entire system, once you decide to get serious with audio.

    • @drianhodgson
      @drianhodgson 10 месяцев назад

      What do you think is class A sound? You cannot tell any quality sound on youtube

    • @NoneYaBiz200
      @NoneYaBiz200 9 месяцев назад

      Look I understand class A sound etc, again you really want the 300b for that glorious midrange. But audio has come a long way. Look at all the little guitar amp/speakers that run on batteries and use class d amps. And they have selectable distortion profiles. Look at all the software that can emulate drum kits, pianos etc not only that, it can emulate different sounds like Yamaha, Roland etc. DSP with class d is the way of the future now, it’s not long before you will have selectable sound profiles built into amps. You would be able to switch between Class A sound, different tube sounds etc. A lot of the class D amps are still lacking in the midrange quality but they are scarily close. Designers do not have to design circuits now, they just build it all into DSP chip and off you go.

      @@drianhodgsonYes you can very well tell SQ on RUclips. Use a good pair of headphones. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be able to? You can clearly hear the room, the speakers, the sound as it sounds in the particular environment. How does RUclips detract from that I have no idea? The sound is the same as recorded, some use high quality microphones and some use just their phone but I’ve heard really good recordings just recorded on a mobile phone too.

    Phenomenal speakers, they are one of the best vintage speakers you will find. Very misunderstood because of the big woofers as they were built for sensitivity and fidelity rather than thumping bass. Great design and sound.

    i like the large edge of the woofer basket 2:05 That imho allows for a better mechanical coupling with the front baffle In this way the woofer and the front baffle become one piece Lately i have become obsessed by the front baffle design and construction of course of the cabinet containing the woofer The frequencies above let's say 200 Hz are muche less energetic ... Great speaker indeed Anyway i have a regret ... i wonder how the dq10 drivers and xover would have sounded in an arrangement like the dq20 that i find much nicer indeed I am very curious and i have a DIY project in this sense
