Ron Fisher 2: Railway and Travel Videos.
Великобритания
Добавлен 4 окт 2011
Hello, and welcome to my RUclips video channel.
My main interest is trains and railways, but I'm also interested in other forms of transport so buses and boats will also make an appearance, as will some general views of places I visit.
I hope that you'll find something of interest.
Although I'm fairly new to videoing, I've been taking stills since 1953 and many of my still photos are on my Flickr site. Here's the address if anyone's interested to have a look:

Thanks for watching. More to be added as time permits...
Good video
Thank you.
The rocky gulleys on that causeway get really deep, really fast on an incoming tide. Take great care out there peeps 👍
Donald and Douglas
Fascinating. Nice to know they are testing the concept (that is from a person who only has eyes for steam !).
I've yet to get the unit in service, but will keep an eye out next time I'm in London to see if its running and worth a trip out. Did you get chance of a ride?
No; it was it was only the train crew and the engineers doing the testing on board. No members of the public. The running days and times can be seen on Realtime Trains when they're doing the test trips. If you do get to see it running, don't go to South Greenford if you're videoing - it's too noisy from the A40 / Western Avenue.
Gorgeous little animals those meerkats!! I see none of them wear specs like Sergei!!
They're certainly cute - but you should see their teeth and claws!!
Hardly dramatic for Christ's sake, they are on a big island !!!!!
When cut off by the tide, it's quite small island. And it's the rescue that's dramatic, not the the island.
I was there on Monday this week, but sadly it wasn't running. Hope to see it at somepoint actually in service as it was parked up in the sigings at West Ealing.
If you look on Realtime Trains you can see when it's scheduled to run, and at what times. Even then there's no guarantee...
Nice shot!
Nice shot. Missed you the last couple of weeks.
Great shot & location! 😀😃😄
Thank you 🙂🙂
I love that old place, but there’s some very foolish people visit it. READ THE NOTICE AT LOOKOUT BUILDING FOLKS. It’ll give you the safe times to cross.
Indeed; there are several signs giving the safe crossing times...
Love the Bakerloo line. Intend to visit everything North of zone one in a weeks time as part of my Underground series.
I was born and bred on the Bakerloo Line Initially, my local station was Neasden on the Stanmore branch and then it was North Wembley on the Watford branch. When we were waiting for the train at North Wembley on our way to see my grandparents, I used to look out to see if our train would be a little red train or a big brown train. The little red trains were the Bakerloo 1938 tube stock and the big brown trains were the ex LNWR LMS Oerlikon sets. They weren't really brown of course, they were LMS maroon, but they were probably a bit faded and grubby by then so just looked brown to my young eyes. One day, to my great surprise, the big brown train was a big green train - nationalisation had arrived!

When we first started running gravity trains, young women rushed out into their back gardens, holding up their children and you could see the word 'Taid' on their lips.... Taid is Grandpa - they were saying in Welsh, 'Look, just like Grandpa told you!'
A friend of mine is building a time machine in his spare bedroom. When it's finished, we'll all be able to go back and see them for real...
The NSE 47 we saw at St. Erth, is 47705, which was the second 47/7 to leave Scotrail. It moved at the end of May 1989 to Stratford Major depot for overhaul, and repaint into NSE livery, losing its name "Lothian" in the process, and was then allocated to Old Oak Common.
I'm going to guess Spooners Café & Bar.
And you've guessed correctly! Congratulations. Yes, was is indeed taken at Spooner's and, for those who may not know where Spooner's is, it's at Porthmadog Harbour Station on the Ffestiniog & Welsh highland Railways in North Wales.
Which country
Wales; North Wales to be precise.

Familiar but nkt ready to have a guess yet. I'm guessing the wooden viaduct will give it away to some.
Had more time now and tracked it down by the signal initially.
@@yorkshirewanderer6176 But it's a pretty standard upper quadrant signal as seen all over a large part of B.R. But as you said before, the viaduct is quite distinctive...
@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Looks like it's from the NE to me the signal, but might be wrong.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos AS no one has guessed from last week its Ushaw Moor
@@yorkshirewanderer6176 Well done! Yes, it's Ushaw Moor in Co. Durham. How on Earth did you manage to fathom that out?! You said that it's a North Eastern signal, but it looks like a bog standard B.R. signal to me, so what's special about it? There's nothing left of the station or the viaduct now; it's just a footpath. ☹☹
I see that the North Wales weather did not disappoint! Charming little engines.
That was they only day that it rained. It was fine after that and got better every day.
I'm not going to guess this week as I've got a couple recently. I think I do know though, but not even going to give a clue in case I put my foot in it....
Go on; no-one else has had a go so, before I come clean, let's have your theory.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Wellington and where withdrawn locomotives were stored
@@yorkshirewanderer6176 Yes, that's exactly where it is. Or perhaps I should say was. Did you know, or did you do a bit of detective work? BR database, for example?? If so, you're the only one that did! This week's quiz pic. is now published, so any ideas?
@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Detective work using the loco as my starting point. I'm not old enough to have visited some of the places you captured.
Very nice video and thanks for sharing. Dave
I'm struggling this week even though I've travelled on most of the underground recently. I'll go for Epping as an outside guess.
No matter how much you travel on the Underground, you won't see this view! It is indeed Epping, taken from the driver's cab of a tube train arriving from Ongar. However, as I'm sure you know, the Epping to Ongar line was closed by London Transport and taken over by the Epping Ongar Railway -- but not as far as Epping station; they stop short in the middle of Epping Forest. They do have aspirations to extend into Epping, but it will have to be a new station a little further up the line, so you won't be able to recreate this view.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos I thought it might be a bit of a trick question which is why I went Epping with you not longer being able to make that journey. It does feature in one of my early videos of my travels around the London Underground as I make my way through Geoff Marshall's book.
Gorgeous view through the bridge!!
The little red locomotive looks very much like the Epping Ongar Railway’s Hawthorne Leslie.
Congrats to Yorkshire Wanderer who correctly identified the location as Dingwall. If you don't already know it, his channel is well worth a visit: www.youtube.com/@yorkshirewanderer6176/videos
No-one even attempted to say where this might be, so if anyone's wondering, it's Barrow Road, Bristol. 45552 had brought a Home Counties Railway Club special train from London Paddington.
Nice shots, I’m rather fond of networkers!
They've certainly been around for a long time.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos early to mid 90s I believe
@@AnthonyFurnival Indeed; I can certainly remember them in BR days.
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Thames Trains is the earliest memory I have of them I think
I know this one I think as I was up there late last year. Dingwall.
Yes, you're right. It's Dingwall. Perhaps it hasn't changed much in the last 64 years!
@@ronfisher2-railwaytravelvideos Def changed since then, but for my visit I bought the Great Railway Journeys Through Time book for the line to look at what it once looked like and what to expect.
@@yorkshirewanderer6176 It turned out to be a wise investment then!
I'm surprised that no-one got this as it's view seen by millions of passengers on the Ffestiniog Railway as it goes round Boston Lodge Curve. The train in the distance is between Portmadoc (as it was at the time) and Minffordd.
