Pinnacle Desert - Cervantes
Our Lap of Oz continues along the Western Australian coastline & the conditions are dodgy.
Can't wait to visit Pinnacle Desert on a sunny day.
Actually despite the miserable weather, it was beautiful at this popular Nambung national park attraction. Definately a 'Bucket List' item.

The Peron Peninsula truly lives up to its World Heritage designation. Even without encountering a Thorny Devil, indulging in the artisan spa, or witnessing dolphins at Monkey Mia, we found immense pleasure in exploring Francois Peron National Park and Dirk Hartog Island. Every moment spent in this breathtaking landscape offered a deep connection to its unspoiled beauty. Make sure not to miss th...

KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK - it’s WA’s second largest; arguably one of it’s premier national parks. Far from reaching for the heavens, it’s narrow steep-sided gorges take you down; up to 100 metres in some. Ghost gums & spinifex sit against red PILBARA earth and blue skies; while fig trees cling to canyon walls, ferns and cooling pools feature in the gorges. There is little like this ancient landsc...

In this episode we leave Cleaverville Campground, our eventual destination CARNARVON 668km, to our south. True to our slow travel pace we have broken the nearly 700kms over 3 days. Planning to spend at least 2 nights FREE CAMPING, we first need to ENSURE WE HAVE ENOUGH WATER on board. Lap of Oz is costly! (Caravanning Australia)

No where near our half-way mark on our Lap of Oz, we finally make it to the west coast and explore Broome. I suspect we have missed some of the town's highlights and I would love to hear from others that enjoyed Broome. What should we have visited? Experiencing the sun setting over the Indian Ocean, we are surprised (OK, a little shocked) at the numbers of 4WDs on Cable Beach. This trip hasn't ...

Low cost because of all the ticks. Been twice, ticks both times. Not going back 👍

There were plenty of roos, so I'm not surprised there were ticks. I was fortunate not to get any that I was aware of. We definitely saw it at its best, I reckon.

Thanks for uploading. That brought back many great memories from WA. As a young fella, back in '89, l met a retired couple camped at Shell Beach, Shark Bay. They were living the life, as you are, hauling a van around Australia. Cold beer and good conversation flowed. I arrived back in Perth a couple of weeks later, only to find there was a pilot strike on. Had to bus it back to Melbourne. WA Tourism suggested that instead of heading straight back to Victoria by bus, if l was interested in spending 3 days in Kalgoorlie as a side trip, they'd throw in 3 nights free accommodation. So l payed for 2 nights, called the boss and told him l could not get a bus back for 5 days... Sometimes bad things happens for a good reason 😂 New Sub. Happy trails. Take care. 😁👍🍺 🇦🇺

@Dingopups I was lucky. Got into the water at Monkey Mia and swam with a couple of dolphins. Not in the tourist area... down beach where fishermen were. Only saw dugong from the boat and kept our distance. Talked to Greenpeace and the 60 Minutes cameraman. All were there discussing a hovercraft application to ferry tourists into Monkey Mia. The local aboriginal park rangers were a great source of info on the region as well. I thought half-seriously about moving to Denham, after talking to many locals, but the bore water put me off. Anyhow, take care. Will check out more of your travels as time permits. 😁👍🇦🇺

dont forget to speed up on trucks at the overtaking lanes after youve held them up for miles at 80km hr tops,be a selfish ignorant prat and park in TRUCK ONLY rest areas where you are NOT supposed to be... ohhh and the all time favourite of caravanners always remember to wait until a truck is only 100-200 m away THEN pull clean out in front of it !!!
