Hi, baby wraps are great for older babies as well as younger ones, they are very supportive and you can adapt the carries you do to suit you and your little one.

You wouldn't be able to spread the top two passes properly if you were tying under bum and you do need spread all 3 passes with a stretchy or it's not safe. You could try the normal Front wrap cross carry (tied at your back) as you can spread all the passes that way

Hip carries are more an off-centre carry. If they were fully on your hip it would push your arm back into an uncomfortable position. Have you tried a back carry?

Try not taking off the pass over your shoulder. Instead, unknot the carry, undo the cross passes under baby's legs, then just loosen the main pass around baby and peel up from under their bottom, so you're taking the fabric up over their head and not disturbing them, and it stays around you. I hope that makes sense.

Without seeing you wrap it's tricky to say exactly what's happening but here's some things to check - Make sure you've got a nice tight seat after making the first ruck pass. Ensure the wrap is into their knee pits and you have a tight straight line going between either knee. Check their position at this point and scoop knees up and tighten as needed. Concentrate on keeping the wrap tight when you make the next pass. When swapping the passes on your shoulder before making the chest pass try using small movements and move the wrap as little as possible. It's likely that it's here things are becoming asymmetrical so stop and check before making the chest pass. Remember to stand up straight while wrapping

Hi there! I’m practicing too and sometimes this happens to me. If you haven’t tried. Practice in front of a mirror and follow the steps. This seems to help me understand exactly where and how I’m wrapping things up.

I can't guarantee it, but chances are that you could get away with a size 5 for a front wrap cross carry if you want very short tails. Another option is to go for a longer size so that you can tie the knot at your front (crossing over the tails at your back and bringing them round again).
