Flying Frankies! Outlining Accordion Sewn HSTs(TM) with Contrast Piping
Просмотров 4 тыс.2 года назад
In playing around with some new ways to use my Accordion Sewn HST’s method, I figured out how to use contrasting piping to outline certain shapes against a background. When I called them flying geese, my phone corrected it to Flying Frankies, and the name has stuck. Those who are already in love with the Accordion Sewn HST’s should definitely check this out for a new variation!

Love, love, love this!
Brilliant!
You always make me smile, listening to you or reading your newsletter. So glad I got to attend a workshop. And no, my carpenters apprentice isn’t done yet 😊
I end up with more bloopers than useful takes! Yours are wonderful!
Just found your channel and this accordion piecing is absolutely brilliant!!! Definitely will be using this technique
I would chain piece 2 sets so I would not have to break tbreads after every block. Great method! Ingenious!
Wow! I saw this on the Enquiring Quilter, what a game changer!
Love this!
Not sure why you waste fabric doing this. Why not just cut small strips and sew together and get the same end result?
I can’t wait to enroll.
Do you still do zoom classes? If you do I’m interested
BRILLIANT!
OMG, I just discovered these videos videos and have to say I love this way of makings hsts. I like that they’re all different and I don’t have to worry about having two the same too close together. Your videos were easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your method.
So fun seeing these again!
Love your accordion technique! When trimming the HSTs before pressing, do they get distorted when you press?
Looks like this would be useful. Your nails are beautiful.
Wow!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just found you watched Adan sew fun tonight really like the way you have done the flying geese will be trying this
Brilliant idea,thank you!
I've never seen that before. I'll give it a try
Such a cool technique! Your “ I saw it, I didn’t fix it and I don’t care” had me rolling!🤣🤣🤣💕🧵
That’s a fabulous technique! ❤️ I look forward to trying it.
What a great and brilliant idea!! I just found your channel after watching a patchwork tutorial and suggested us to go to your site!! Well done and will definitely apply this to my project of lots and lots of HST needed. Thank you.
Do you cut excess material off at back
I cannot find part 1, is it still available?
Just found you! Amazing!! Got your name from Karen Brown, Just Get It Done Quilting. She was showing HST examples and your accordion method was #10. I'll be ordering one of your books for sure. Your a genius. Thanks 😊
same!! 😊
Your method is extraordinary. I have to admit, instead of looking at what you were doing. I was looking at your filthy cutting mat. I’m sorry to have said that. I also got distracted by all the threads and edges that were not straight when you showed us a finished square, again I apologize for these comments. That being said, your method is amazing and I definitely will order one of your trimmers because your ideas are wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
You don't need her trimmer to do these.
Wow! A fabulous technique. Thank you for showing it.
Amazing!!! thank you for sharing!!
I was just introduced to your channel by Karen Brown of "Just Get It Done" on RUclips. Your accordion hst method looks to be fairly easy... I'll have to check it out. Really liked watching these three tutorials on how to do the accordion and cut them apart. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to y'all.
This is a genius way to make hst. Never seen this method before
Wow, that is a brilliant method! thank you for sharing.
Awesome technique for doing HST's! Thanks for sharing. I think this will be my new way whether I want scrappy or not. So much fun!
I wish I had the math head you have. I have taken your classes and loved the concept. Thank you for this freebie.
Where were you when I was making my scrappy star quilt ... these would have been perfect. Thanks for your experimentation.
Great tips Eva! Love you attitude as well😂😂🧵
Always love a new hint! This is so cool 😎
Bravo eva continue
Hi! I hope you had a delightful day. I just got my first chance to sit down and watch your video because it has been a fun sewing day for me. I hope you have a lovely week ahead. Thank you for sharing your video and your talent.
Found you courtesy of Just Get It Done Quilts (Karen Brown). Great technique! I have quite a bit of fabric I can cut and make scrappy HSTs with whereas before I saw this, my scrappy stash was just building with nowhere to go. Genius solution. I also appreciate you and Karen’s approach to that 7/8’s triangle rule 😁 which is always a sticking point. Thank you! (Subscribed)
Awesome thank you for sharing
So Cool! I am going to try it just to try the technique! Edit - tried and loved it. Amazing! One positive is that all the outside raw edges are not bias when the HST's are finished
