We upgraded to a new office - closer to town amenities, more room to roam both inside and out. We spent a lot of time in the old office at the Prospector building off Marshall Rd. Merged multiple rafting companies together, revolutionized the way we schedule & pay our staff, managed a tourism industry business during a global pandemic, and grew our families.

Middle Fork American River Rafting with Raft California
easy peasy class 5
Is that dager Fall
Ruck-a-Chucky is not class 6. It is class 5+ with potentially very serious consequences for messing up. It is never run by guests on commercial trips, but it is sometimes soloed or run in tandem (like here) by the guides while the guests walk around on the right-hand bank via a good trail. It is very difficult to impossible to line; portaging is not technically difficult on the trail, but it could be very time- and energy-consuming on a multi-day trip with gear.
Class 11
6 no way 5 still doubts
On some rapids, in some cases. Not always. Either way though, Class 6 is, by definition, unrunnable.
Can CFS change the class?
Yes
By a lot.
I thought class 6 was deadly
Considered without risking serious injury or death, until someone runs it . If someone runs it safely and without injury, it’s considered a class V. I think the OP is calling it a VI because they don’t run it commercially, so V+ is probably a more correct way to state it. But I’m just a fifty something river guide who’s been paddling whitewater for close to forty years so what would I know?
What fun waterslide good job! 🥰👏👏👏✊❤️😇💥🌞💯🔥
according to American Whitewater guidelines it a class5
I thought you meant the doll chucky
Class 6 if you're rafting with RaftCalifornia. 4+/5 for most others that do it on the daily
Been there, done that…followed my grand daughter R2 ing. This is a great class 5 drop, fun for experienced boaters.
Sungai nya sangat bagus
If you regularly run it it’s a class v, there is not a difference between rafts and kayaks.
Ruck a chuck is a monster and when I was I guide (2017-2020) was not navigated by any of the rafting companies in the area with customers. The risk to reward ratio made it illogical. People on here saying it's not a 6 are technically right since there are really on 5 classifications....but if there were a 6, it would be one at least for commercial rafting.
Any guide on the American River will tell you this is a 6. There's a 14ft fall! I watched 1 guide go swimming at the bottom this last weekend. It's gnarly
Class IV +
Nice
So is that a natural tunnel? Or man made? Great footage.
if im not mistaken im pretty sure it was a man made tunnel through a oxbow bend on the river
Nice run started with a great entry, the rest 'looked' easy. I'd like to hear the river, and guide directions.
How long is the tunnel?
The tunnel after the rapid is 90 feet long. The rapid itself is 80 feet.
Its about 80' long!
That was sick! It's class 5 though!
It is a high 5 with potentially very serious consequences if you mess it up. It is never run commercially by guests, but it is frequently "tandem rafted" (like here) because portaging or lining it are both a pain in the ass.
It's not a VI, it's 5+. Guides run it solo all the time and the customers portage to the bottom. But it would technically be a VI for kayakers due to it being to shallow and sieves. Heard of one guy running it but don't know if it was true.
Its a well argued point in the rafting community, and we totally agree that Ruck A Chucky may well be classified Class 5+ to 6 depending on certain specifics...Here's how we look at it: Class V+ is considered "runnable" on a commercial basis, where Class VI is "un-runnable" on commercial trips. Ruck A Chucky is a mandatory portage for commercial guests while guides (if they choose) will run the raft solo down the Chuck. Thanks for commenting!
@@raftcalifornia11 class VI rapids are not runnable by definition, if ran it will lead to injury or death. The fact that it gets ran every weekend during the season makes it a class V+. Yeah, a fully loaded boat of limited to non experienced paddlers probably won't make it, but it's still very runnable. If a class VI is ever ran its usually downgraded to a V+. Class 5: Whitewater, large waves, continuous rapids, large rocks and hazards, maybe a large drop, precise maneuvering, often characterized by "must make" moves, i.e. failure to execute a specific maneuver at a specific point may result in serious injury or death, Class 5 sometimes expanded to Class 5+ that describes the most extreme, runnable rapids (skill level: expert); Class 5+ is sometimes assigned to a rapid for commercial purposes, since insurance companies often will not cover losses sustained in a Class 6 rapid. Class 6: While some debate exists over the term "class 6", in practice it refers to rapids that are not passable and any attempt to do so would result in serious injury, near drowning, or death (e.g. Murchison Falls). If a rapid is run that was once thought to be impassible, it is typically reclassified as class 5.
Def not 6 lol
Thanks for the comment - Here's how we, as a commercial outfitter look at it: We are able to run legally run Class 5+ rapids on commercial trip, where Class 6 is "un-runnable" with commercial guests. Ruck A Chucky is a mandatory portage for our guests, while guides (if they choose) will run the raft solo down the Chuck.
@@raftcalifornia11 still def not a 6 lol
@@minutechips9414 k man, whatever you say
@@raftcalifornia11 k bro still class 5 lol, just cus you dont take customers down it doesnt make it a class 6 silly head. If your putting it in the perspective of custies then everythings class 6 lol
Lol 6 my arse.
5+ is pretty close to a 6, but we totally hear you, different situations would classify this as a Class V+ rapid. As a commercial rafting outfitter we legally take this stance: Class V+ is considered "runnable" on a commercial basis, where Class VI is "un-runnable" on commercial trips. Ruck A Chucky is a Class VI rapid (especially compared to the Class V+ stuff we raft on the North Yuba & Burnt Ranch Gorge) and is a mandatory portage for commercial guests while guides (if they choose) will run the raft solo down the Chuck. Thanks for commenting!
Super dope!!!! 6 though???!

That’s not what designates class VI boating. You are going to piss a lot of class VI kayakers off making claims like that!
You people are crazy 😂
Dude facing backwards going over chucky to film takes some serious belief in the man on the stick.
Right!? Superstar!
