It was for Science. Because of her we were able to send humans to space. The US would have ended up doing it if the USSR didn't and it would have been just as tragic
Laika was NOT "BRAVE." Trusting in the humans she loved, Laika was tortured and mercilessly suffocated when her oxygen ran out (which they knew would do so.)
@Christine Lim maybe because this song is emotional and makes you think of hiw many stray animals die and laika was proboy braver than any thing i n the universe and helped make the future possible
Great song and Great Video!!!!! Thank You!!! And may God Bless The World's Little Liaka!!!! May she rest in Peace after seeing all we here could only imagine. Bless Her
@DaftD0g i know this is late, but dude look at people bashing russians for sending a dog to space that didnt return, @pezlazzo is telling us something that is true.
@dunblobbon @dunblobbon How do you consider dying of overheating and panic being "humanely euthanized remotely with a full belly?" Recent information released several years ago states that Laika died within 5-7 hours of the launch (not after 4 or so days like they initially wanted us to believe). Her heart rate skyrocketed to 3 times the normal resting rate during launch and the cabin quickly raised in temperature. The dog literally died from stress caused by heat and fear.
Rest in peace Loving dog Laika, run free.. you still in our hearts forever.

renaisanc9 Laika didn't live long enough for here oxygen to run out, she died of heat exhaustion 5 hours after lift off.
I thought it was overheating?

Laikathespacedog *You're
yea i know she died of overheating
Plus I didn't read it all the way through -0-
Where are you getting your information...? I presume NOT declassified soviet documentation.

She died of over heating not suffocation
no she overheated by cooler failure only a couple hours after launch
Regardless of what "we learned" or didn't learn "from this mission," there IS NO JUSTIFICATION for such blatant cruelty to a living being.
7 years late but one of the scientists said they didn't learn enough to justify her death
@skyprop dude laika is a dog
