Gerard & Kelly rediscover Eileen Gray's Modernist Legacy the E-1027 house
At the edge of Europe, where France ends and meets the Mediterranean, a queer Irish woman with no formal architectural training built a house on the jagged shores of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. She drew plans for the interior space only after designing the furnishings for within and made a radical proposition for living.
Eileen Gray designed E-1027 in the bay of Roquebrune-Cap Martin in 1929 for intimate retreats with the architect and critic Jean Badovici-who was fifteen years her junior. The name, like the code for a shipping vessel, is derived from the interlinking of their initials: E for Eileen, 10 for the J of Jean, 2 for the B of Badovici, 7 for the G of Gray. Her name embraces his. Toda...

In a time when hypernyms such as “Anthropocene” and “nonhuman” are becoming desensitized in contemporary art, is it still worthwhile for artists to question our seemingly unsalvageable relationships with other species and explore potential modes of alternative communication with them? For Wantanee Siripattananuntakul, this question is unpacked through her bond with Beuys an African gray parrot ...

Regarding fluorescence. Objects fluores under ultraviolet light, not infrared light. When ultraviolet light -- invisible to the human eye -- strikes a florescent surface a longer wavelength light visible to the human eye is emitted. You might remember the black light posters of the early 70s. When invisible infrared light hits a surface we perceive the result as heat.
I first encountered Baez's work at the Kemper Museum years ago. Still have a photo of one of her polychrome prints on my phone I refuse to delete. All that I've read and heard inspire the knowledge that she works from a place of grace, humility and enviro-social awareness. A well spoken interview.
3:43 😂🎉
When two of your favorite environmentalists link up.... swoon.
Beautiful ❤
Bloody lovely intelligent interview. Thank you.
Art has always been political since the dawn of humanity ✊
Good! Beautiful!
Beyond obnoxious
Political Art = Weak Art
We still haven't settled the issue about slavery and it's been 160 years. This country is ruled by straight white men who will do everything to hold on to power. End of sentence
of normalness
❤
A brilliant artist. Thank you for this interview.
Hard not to root for AI after watching this.
scintillating conversation. "3 logos in one. that's new. that's synergy". And "two ads on top of each other and and nuanced black. and the nuances of hiring someone. and the nuance of the nuance. plus plasticity, and mediated, democratic, and Elvis and spaghettios. dog on the cover of art forum.
That chat about Dennis only living 8 more years made me sad for a sec there. Then I remembered Godard and Varda and felt a bit better. These two are the twin peaks of post-modern art, literally re-writing the rules of their respective mediums, and in person seem so humble and open. Long may they continue.
The work is beautiful and the interview is very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing.
wow amazing thank you
I love Tracey Emin and her message with my entire being. Thank you.
bless him
I have not read Artforum in the last years because I felt it was more about power and status than about art. But this interview I like.
👏👏👏
This must be a mistake. The art is astonishingly laughable. This is as bad as printing money.
Just can't take this"artist" seriously. No style, no intelligence, no class; no talent.
I still care I guess
Oh this is pure barf. President Trump is fine with LEGAL immigration. Any illegal is duh,? ,obviously breaking the law AND it’s slap in the face to LEGAL immigrants who waited and went through the legal process. The childishness of “Democrats” or anyone who deliberately twists the truth and just wants to whine over ridiculous non issues is just so old. So boring. So tiresome.
Love the way the interviewer picked up on the romanticism & optimism in his music & it was amazing to hear Dev Hynes expound on that. He seemed genuinely flattered by the observation. Awesome question!
Love the feet with sandals piece. 💯
Wtf dude
Hey Artforum Free Palestine 🇵🇸 lol
Vera is a superhero! A real pioneer! Her name should be mentioned amongst the greatest artists. She deserves it. She did AMAZING things in art. We cannot talk enough about her works and legacy.

Perseverance
I've seen a video about the show on another RUclips channel but it's great to hear this artist speak about her work.
Many painters and artists have outsourced or had a team of assistants making the finished work. Takashi Murakami, Martin Kippenberger, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Frank Stella, and Donald Judd just to name a few artists who work(ed) in this manner. It’s very common and nothing new and a lot of painters working at her level do the same thing as Jamian. Don’t forget about fashion designers and architects and countless other art professions led by someone coming up with the rough drafts and ideas and having them executed by someone else or a team.
Painters, fine artists shouldn’t do this.
Must be so nice to be born rich.

Dude, so cool!
I am a huge admirer of Molnar's work. Sadly enough, we need a huge monograph for her badly.
What? there is no place called Palestine. look at the map. It is Israel. Now, I really suggest you go to Gaza yourself, see how they treat you, as a gay man, you will be in great danger of physical harm, mabe death. You waste your creativity on a culture that strive to annihilate you.
