I love that David is singing in the song more than what we usually hear. It's easy to tell when it's Richie's voice, but David doesn't give us much to listen to when it comes to his voice. He has a great voice.
On These Days tour, David and Richie split the back up vocal. While in the original audio it's only Richie's voice. This is why I love Bon Jovi as a band. They always find a way to make a member play a part somehow. Alec also got some back up vocal work on live performance in the 80s. Tico also did sing on stage early 2000s.
@@faiz7180 I saw one video here where Tico sang a song that was for his son. He definitely doesn't have a singing voice (neither do I, and I can't play drums either), but he put himself out there and it was beautiful in it's own way. The thing that I hated most about Richie leaving was because of how well his harmony was such a compliment to Jon's melody. People talk about how Richie's voice was better than Jon's, but I sort of disagree because Richie puts a new twist on songs that I don't care for, but his harmony is so amazing. I truly miss hearing new music from them, but Jon can't sing at all anymore, something that was painfully obvious this year with the videos people were posting from concerts. It hurts to hear him try to sing when he just can't do it anymore. I'm so grateful to have grown up when I did. The 70's were such a great decade when it came to just about anything, but especially music. New singers, new types of music, rock and roll was exploding as was pop, soul, rhythm and blues, and country crossover. Then in the 80's it got amped up with hard rock or hair metal, two of the terms used to describe bands or singers. I have such a huge library of music, all genres, and music has gotten me through some tough times in my life. I love David's voice as well as his way with keyboards. So much talent by everyone in the band. I sure hope the song "Rock and Roll Heaven" is true. Makes me look forward to going to heaven.
@@survivrs I agree with you that Tico doesn't have a singing voice and definitely beautiful. You are right about Richie's voice is not better than Jon's and vice versa. Both of them are unique in their own way. Jon is more fitting for a rock band frontmen for sure. I hate it when people disregard Jon's effort just for the sake of praising Richie's. They are both great musicians that compliment each other very well. Growing up throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s must be really great. I'm a gen z but those decades are definitely my favourite.

It's great that there are these old captures: it proves me that they really WERE good and it wasn't just my juvenile ignorance that made me think so. What I didn't like about that era was that they thought they had to look grungy... and - if you're sensitive to those things - you can tell that Jon's vocal technique isn't healthy, and nowadays he pays the price.
It's time when Jon had his most beautiful voice and hair....
