Crash Server
Франция
CRASH SERVER is a live coding duo from Strasbourg/France. They use lines of code to transform computer language into music.
They wander into electro, noise, glitch and ambient music and deep into IDM territories. Crash Server is at the crossroads of many different influences such as post-punk, rock and classical music. It merges digital and analog, algorithmic and organic, chaotic and structured.
They narrate a fight against an alienating server, question our connection to the digital world, our evolution as a technological species, ask questions about the transhumanism relationship, and analyze our relationship to data privacy and our addiction to technology.

How can I use Text2Speech in FoxDot? Where can I find a way?
Hi ! We are going to release the source code soon for the integration of text 2 speech in foxdot, we'll happily share that
Check our github, name: crashserver, repo : live -- > look for speech and how it's implemented, we might do a code cooking at some point :)
covid 19 soundtrack
We did one on our digital isolation during covid in Strasbourg, check mmxx on the channel if you're curious. But interesting you find a relation !
wow i feel like this would make a super cool setting for a horror film; like those fireballs/swarms that come out of the trees, the way everything seems to breathe, the combination of botanical/glitch stuff... it's really awesome!

cool noises and visuals!
thx !
Great to see, I play guitar much better than I code !
I got it working rhis morning 😊
Happy to hear that, the tutorial was a bit succinct with such a large topic, glad it worked for you!
@@CrashServer it is a tricky thing to cover, i ended up having to use two different asio drivers linked up with some software to get Ableton to see the outputs. My main problem was I was putting the extra code into util.py in the wrong place 😅
Awe you guys are the best !
thx for support :) !
T'as des requêtes particulières ?
Hey thanks for these great videos. Any chance of one showing how to use multiple audio outputs in various daws...and maybe how to update the clock from an external source. Thanks again ❤
Great idea for a tutorial, we've already made a textual tutorial on our website : crashserver dot fr but we might consider doing a video also :)
Hi again, we just made the video on that subject, just uploaded. For the clock it's .. more complicated :)
Do you guys use the PitchGlitch branch ?
Hi, we use a custom homebrew version based of vanilla foxDot
but we're going public soon with our code, there might be some stuff to merge with renardo branch & pitchglitch. We'll keep you posted
Hi guys! Really appreciate your tutorials! Thank you! Is there any way to find the documentation for classes, methods, number and name of arguments, etc.as you do in SuperCollider by highlighting the "receiver" or the "message" and pressing "Ctrl + D"? This would really help improve the knowledge and skillz!
Hiya, as a quick response I would invite you to check : print(SynthDefs) print(Samples) print(FxList) print(Attributes) print(PatternMethods) to get some information about players & methods. It's limited but still gets you a nice overview. Good that you ask the question though we might integrate that question more in depth for a next tutorial :)
@@CrashServer That would be great! Thank you for your reply! Can’t wait for the next tutorials! ✌️
source pls
I'm sorry that was blank page jam session didn't save the code :(
@@CrashServer 🥲 np, i think it can be salvageable with this video
@@sonpenguen8572 on sound design it depends a lot of our synths and fx, but let me check I might have a file close to that jam, I'll share it if I find it.
to answer my self, i think the best way is salvage :) couldn't find it !
Nice jam, you guys are great at tweaking filter cutoffs to create movement and progression 🙂
Sounds very good!! Computer Acid 👾
As a mortal, is it possible for me to grab this new filter and integrate it in my learning/practice/performance?
We re working on sharing it soon, it'll be on our website
Hi there, sorry for the delay, a post about that specific filter, so yeah it's an fx you got load that in to your foxdot fx path : crashserver.fr/adapted-da-funk-filter/ >> we might do a tutorial on how to add fx & synths soonish :)
Please keep Foxdot alive.
sure thing, foxDot forever :) and we're not the only ones :)
This is epic, both audio and visuals 🤩

Hi guys! Very informative and educational your video series. Can you tell if FoxDot is still continued? Any updates? Any updated documentation, besides the one from 2021 by Ryan Kirkbride? Thank you!
Hey, thanks for your comment. Yes indeed, Ryan's project is still quite alive thanks to the community. Join foxdot on telegram, we'll help you with pleasure. Macron? The Strogg leader?
Yes, the same but undercover. He can't fool you 😎
The best channel about FoxDot in the YT!!
hey thanks a lot !
Guys, excellent work!, here goes my request. How can I send my sound signal (I'm not referring to a MIDI signal, but a sound signal itself) to pure data, or to another DAW?
Hello ! Thanks for the feedback ! >> Concerning your questions, It depends a lot on the O/S you're using. On a linux system you've got qjacktl or Carla for example - (based on jack), that allow live patching and rediricting sound & midi. On more recent systems you could use f.e helvum via pipewire. > Interfacing supercollider with pure-data shouldn't be a problem - you can find examples on how to send osc from one to the other. >> If it's only sound you're redirecting every DAW & pd should works with supercollider / foxDot
Hi, we just upload a new video on how to record Foxdot to a DAW in multi tracks. Maybe this can help.
@@CrashServer ♥♥♥
I wish they would've kept developing FoxDot. As someone who knows Python it looked like the best option for live coding but also it doesn't makes sense to invest time to a project that's development is halted.
yes but the community is still active with some forks.
@@CrashServer thank you, is there a fork that has active development that you suggest?
@@exshenanigan2333 this one is pretty active. There is also the foxdot telegram group where you can get some answers. gitlab.com/iShapeNoise/foxdot
@@CrashServer thank you!
Vraiment croustillant, bravo!
@@Chambrette Hello, Carla c'est un logiciel sous linux permettant un tas de trucs, > à la base c'est un hôte pour les plugins (vst etc ...) mais permet surtout de connecter et rediriger des signaux audio. Par ex connecter router le son de supercollider vers un plugin audio puis le sortir sur une sortie spécifique. C'est un peu le centre névralgique qui connecte tout le matériel & logiciel ensemble;

the best <3
Awesome, I did not know that tuples will relate all values to its positions in each tuple.
Very nice. Your cooking is exquisite!
Question. Will it reset to default settings, or to the individual settings of the synths/samples?
if you do a Master().sus=0, it will set all sus values to 0. If you want to reset the settings to default, do a Master().reset(), but it's more brutal. We wrote a small function masterAll, which stores all the values when you call it and restores them when you do a masterAll("reset"), very handy. You can find it in our February monthly report on our website, news section.
The best Foxdot tutorial series. Short, sweet, and fun.
Thanks ! Thats quite heartwarming :)
What a nice food hack again :)
