Wirral Circular Trail Part 1 (14/12/2020)
Hi i was part of the pennine task force that installed this walk back in the 80s
And you where not on it most of the time sorry hardcastle craggs down to river hebden follow it into hebden no climbing hill up to heptonstall and down the buttress just saying
I went to Moseley Hall Grammar School almost six decades ago, but my family moved overseas before I took A levels. I didn't know there was a Moseley Hall listed house in Cheadle - but I lived in Cheadle Hulme, so I didn't go there often. I assume the school was named after the famous old house. interesting to see some history of Cheadle. I remember the main streets but not much else.
I did it last week on tuesday hardly anyone about in week, At 68 it nearly finished me off, I'm sticking to flat walks from now, Take care up there.
Nice.
Absolutely lovely trail. And thank you for sharing you capture our valley magnificently
Glad you enjoyed it
That was a wonderful trip back in time Frank....thank you. I was surprised to see the current location of the Occleston Memorial. When I was a child, it was in the middle of the road at the junction of Manchester Road, Stockport Road and High Street (directly opposite the George and Dragon. In the mid-late 60's it was relocated about 100m east to the lawns at the entrance to Queens Gardens and I now see that it has again moved....is it on castors? Brooklyn Cresent Park was formely the School playing field for Cheadle Primary School (my first school) and it hosted the school football matches and sports days in the 60's. The Drill Hall was the venue for the youth club and their Friday night discos in the 70's. I'll stop before it gets boring!
Found this on youtuibe and decided to follow the walk today (Boxing day 2023) , it's a really good route round Stockport and we enjoyed it greatly , finishied off with a pint. Cheers Frank !
Glad you enjoy it!
One of our favourite walks is from Hawarth Oxenhope over the moors to Hardcastle Crags onto.Hebden Bridge. A wonderful area. Thanks for taking us on this informative interesting walk.😊
Great walk that, many years since i sunk a few jars in the George......Thanks for the memory. Cheers.
Lots of dogging sites along this walk
Finally Googled this, I thought it was just my camera. I use it for when riding my motorcycle, mounted on a helmet, within a case....its a complete pain in the ass to have to pull over, take off my helmet, take it off the mount and out of the case...this thing freezes up constantly. Fucking constantly. I'm at my wits end with it. Did you ever figure any kind of fix?
I haven’t found a fix, I’m still having to reboot when it freezes.
I've done the Hooton to west kirkby and back quite a few times, i had no idea there was another 3 parts to this walk, my fave pic in the lady lever art gallery is called the scape goat. Thanks for your efforts doing these videos
Thank you for the comment. I hope you get to do the other 3 sections.
Mine has the same problem. It's a piece of crap.
Agreed. I doubt I will ever buy another GoPro.
Boss video mate helped me loades on my bike rides keep vids comeing mate thanks 👍👍👍👏👏
I am really pleased that the video has assisted you.
The 'd' is silent in Childwall/Chilwall. Gatacre is pronounced Gatacker. Well done jogging all that way. In the past I rode my bike from Near Hartleys' Village, to Gateacre, got a flat half way and had to push my bike. I was knackered when I got home!
Thanks for the info about the pronunciation.
Is the former line under Walton Church roundabout accessible. I think the tunnel may be blocked off and the track bed overgrown. There's also another cycle way that runs close to the Fazakerley line. Great video BTW.
Thank you for the comment. I didn't know about the line under Walton Church roundabout it's not an area I have explored.
👍🏼
I’ve always wondered where this went, walked under the Ralla on my way to school for years even now I live not far from it
Beautiful views
Nice cloud inversions
Enjoyed your film 🎥👍, walked part of that route a few times
Good to see you out again!
That’s fantastic Frank! Thank you
It is very undulating path from Robin Hoods Bay to Ravenscar. I found that when I did the Cleveland Way x
from Burscough to Wigan we drive along the A59 towards Preston, we drive along the A5029 towards Wigan, we drive along the A49 road towards Wigan, we arrived at Wigan in Greater Manchester.
Wonderful views and the heather is stunning at this time of year. Lovely area.
Lovely walk, we don't have these beautiful rolling hills here so it's nice to see a walk through these virtually at least :)
I'm hoping to do some more walks along the Pennine Way in the next few months but the scenery will change as I head north.
I have the same issue from time to time. It’s not always random… for example, if I open the GoPro App, to check framing, quick capture will stop working, In addition, I have the settings adjusted to use the last mode used….well that doesn’t work if I record a time lapse. Once I end time-lapse using quick capture, it defaults back to last video mode instead of recording another time-lapse, WTH!? Lastly, I often use a helmet mount that places the camera upside down….it often doesn’t recognize the orientation and will record footage inverted. Obviously there is no way to tell until afterwards, because it’s mounted to my helmet and I’m unable to check the screen, nor should I have to. And I can’t open the app to check framing, nor should I have to, and if I do….the quick capture stops working!! I did not know about the SOFT REBOOT. Thanks for the pro-tip!
Gr8 channel mate
Glad you like it.
Get a hammer and fix it for good. I have one and it's crap
I won't be buying another.
@@Frankp-bm8tk I'm with you. I gave up on it bunch of junk and wasted dollars.
Great to see you document the Wirral like this. I think most people from there have given up on the place. Sad really because it's actually a nice place. Lot of history. I am from Birkenhead and have lived in Scotland for 31 years but I think it's time to come home to be with my family and grandchildren and daughter. I miss them so much. Thanks for the video Frank (My dad's name) :) Frank
I found my walk around Wirral to be both diverse and very interesting with lots to see.
Did you move back James ?
Guinea gap baths is a shit hole. The sauna was terrible.
Fantastic.
Nice one mate, enjoyed that.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, i am from Wallasey but now live in Australia, loved seeing it all
I'm very glad that you enjoyed it.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Jaxson Ariel Instablaster =)
@Jason Beau Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Jason Beau It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy! Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
Thanks for posting this. Like Wainwright I prefer the route over Hey Edge and Tooleyshaw Moss to Black Hill to the present PW route. The old PW route from Black Hill down to the A635 was also a better walk than the present use of what was the 'Wessenden Alternative'
Some of the new routes are far too busy as well.
Nice content frank subbed 👍
Much appreciated.
my neck o the woods that
great work Frank, I'm going to cycle this for the first time in the summer so appreciate you giving us an heads up
I hope you pick a fine day and have a great day out.
Nice video of a local walk .
Glad you enjoyed it. I did walking it.
The Wirral has some Lovely walks.
I hope to return to Merseyside once the lockdown ends.
The Black pearl was destroyed when storm Ciara hit
I hope it gets rebuilt.
Really liked that video! Lots of history.
Very informative and enjoyable video. I did part part of that walk a couple of months ago, although I went over to Wetton. It’s a lovely part of the Peak District and a bit quieter than Dovedale.
Brilliant film , am actually sat here now planning to do the same route , not done it for a few years . At 9.43 the route across Ramsden Rocks to the far right Is` do able` In good weather ( winter Its muddy an slippy ) keep to the bottom edge of that light colour scree and hand rail the bright green ` plateau` right across the the bend in the hill and your safe . the ` Industrial ` site you found is an old rifle range the metal things are the frame spring loads to hold the targets so they can pop up and down not sure if they were Victorian Gentleman's or W.W.2 ?. At 11.13 in your film if you had taken the other path that is a really nice walk back through the old quarry a great place to bivi out for the night ,also on the footpath back near the top of Ramsden Clough thee is a ruined cottage - no roof but four wall a great place to shelter for sorting your kit or cooking a meal half way round the route , look forward to bumping in to you one day ! - great film ,Michael ( Huddersfield )
Brought back memories Frank, I got caught on that same Alport Vally Moor near the waterfall in a heavy storm too, there is a path, high up on the ridge of the other bank that runs along to 'Grains in the Water' by the way, slightly easier. Enjoyed the vid, at least it wasn't wind lol. Atb Bill.
